Definitely (in my opinion) get the OEM ones. The Mintex pads will destroy your rotors faster. (and will probably squeal more)

The claim from the dealer for changing the rotors is that the stock
rotors are two thin to "resurface" (I forget the exact term). Someone
may make a thicker rotor that can be used instead.

Well, when we had our VW brakes appraised by the dealer, they said the
same thing "too thin to resurface". Upon inspection by two other
independent brake companies, they showed us the actual and the
tolerances - and in both cases there was plenty of room to work with
for resurfacing. I can't count the # of parts my dealer has told me
are "worn out and need replacement" when they are 50% or better. I
don't believe rotors for a specified vehicle come in different widths,
just different qualities. I'd get some independent estimates before
you bite down on a set of new ($) rotors. Has anyone seen the
cross-drilled and vented discs in LRO? I read that they are something
like $3,000 for 4, but boy do they look awesome.

Just call British Pacific, they have ,BY FAR, the best prices on brake
products. I just did a complete job on the 110. Front, genuine Lockheed pads
were $69.95, rear Mintex shoes were a measley $45 bucks! Front rotors were
2@$39, and new genuine drums were 2@61.95, total $317 for all. Easy Saturday
project. BTW, anyone converted the 110 rear Salibury axle to disc brakes? Or
the front to the bigger vented rotors/calipers as on the NAS 90? You get the
idea, 110's do not exactly "stop on a dime".

I have tried about three different brake pads and the all squeaked. I tried
every thing to stop the noise but nothing worked. So I went back to stock
pads and found that they work the best for me.

As you know I've got a few miles on my Rover, I've done fronts
twice and rears once. I found Beck-Arnley to be the best pad
not only for the Rover but also on all my other vehicles.
They are an organic pad that will not leave black dust all
over your wheel, won't fade when wet and won't squeal to
bad when offroading in dust. Remember Twist-Off I was right
behind you most of the way. My rotors are the original one's.
No core charges to worry with either.
Just my 2 cents worth.

As one who has successfully fitted RR and Disco rear discs to 110s I can say that the biggest problem you face is mounting the callipers! The RR/Disco donor vehicle has to be the correct age, and that is determined by the recipient vehicle. If the recipient is an 'Imperial' vehicle then the donor has to be an Imperial vehicle, if the recipient is a metric vehicle then the donor has to be metric. Prior to about 1988 all 110s were Imperial, and after about 1990 they are metric. And in the gap its anyone's guess, but it is an easier job to fit metric cavillers to an imperial axle than the other way round...
It does wonders for the braking performance, and gives the guy behind even less of an excuse for saying your brakes don't work...

Subject: Vented discs (rotors)
My D110 came with vented front discs as standard. it's available on the d90's too. to change over is easy. just get 2 vented discs, and either 2 new callipers, or the 'modification kit' that is just a couple of spacers that fit in the middle of the calliper to widen it by the thickness of the new disc. (that's all the genuine parts have done to them) the standard vented disc is about 1/3inch wider than the solid ones.
Jamie later added:
The part #'s for the vented and solid brakes are:
FRC7329 Solid
FTC902 Vented (standard type)
or use the Very heavy Duty military spec (Off of the Salisbury front axle, rated to 6tons)
grooved and vented disc. john craddocks are selling them at about £30 each (RRP about £400 odd) (Havn't got the part # handy) these are HUGE. i can fit one of my sausage fingers into the vented bit...but the caliper needs about a half inch spacer in it.craddocks sells them too, don't know how much.
the caliper for the standards vented disc is STC1266 (RH) and STC1267 (LH).
All the above calipers use standard 110 pads.
