97 radio plug arrangements

Can someone with a 97 D-90 tell me what sequence the plugs go in the radio install?
I have a 94 and I just got a stock 97 radio...
how does one insert the amplifier into the circuit? I know that two plugs come up from the truck harness...I was able to just plug the radio in without the amp and it works fine...but not loud enough by any means...anyone know how this works (I have seen the great plug notes on this site but it doesn't answer this question)

There's something a stereo guy was saying about my (97 D90) stereo that it was "low signal" or something - had to do with what kind of amp was in there and that they couldn't swap in a bigger one easily because of the "low signal"
