Steering wheel removal?

Maybe a naive question but how do you remove a steering wheel in a D-90?

Pull off the padded cover trapezoid by hand. Yank it! There is a big center bolt - undo it. Get or fabricate a stiff piece of metal with two holes in it that will line up with the empty screw holes in the wheel itself, on either side of the steering shaft. Find two bolts about 1 1/4 inch long that will fit the threads (don't know the size). Screw in the bolts, a little each side, and watch as the wheel starts coming up off the steering shaft!

Or you could buy a wheel puller at a parts house -- don't know the cost.

Or,

Loosen the large nut in the middle of the wheel all the way to the end, spray it down with wd-40 then sit in the drivers seat and bang the shi-iatt out of it towards you. It will pop off. Make sure you leave the nut loosly on the end of the tread, if not that wheel will come off and hit you right in the face. --no comment.

I made a puller just as described I think the thread size is BA anyway it's an imperial size.
You can also get the wheel off by removing the big nut in the center and then rocking the wheel side to side, sounds unlikely but it works. You don't even need to pull very hard whilst doing it. I rarely bother with the puller I made as the wheel always comes off with the latter method.
