Had a Snow run with some friends from the North of Lebanon (honestly, best looking terrain in I’ve ever seen…) and we had a run from 1,400m altitude to 3,083, the highest peak in the Middle East (“Qornet El Sawda”, or “The Black Corner”)…we encountered pebble trail, rocks, mud, ravines, and finally snow…

The entrance to the trail was a very tough blockade that had me on 3 wheels, and we had to winch the Unimog back as well as get some GREAT driving from the G Wagon (Marc is one of the best drivers on LWB I’ve seen!)

Winching the Unimog back (tied my rear end to the G, and slapped a snatch block as the truck was dead and on the other side of the blockade

Along the trail got to a nice technical rock/mud section (I hate mud and rock together!)

Reaching snow at around 2,400m high…first, we deflated (went down to 2psi!)

Unimog didn’t deflate as tires are ancient and didn’t want to have issues (getting 44” STSs for the winter)

Leading the way at 2psi…was driving in 2nd with the underdrive, lockers and all on, tick-over…no issues at all…

Rear tire at 2psi with a small side-slope (I love beadlocks…now I know why they are going for 17” and 20” tires, no?)

That’s it…I have loads of video…will compile and share when I get a faster connection…

Peace!

Great pics, and really nice looking rigs.

I don't mean to poke fun, but my grandma used to drive her old Rambler through worse snow than that to get to town on bingo night. (I don't think she even had to air down)

(har, har, har!)

:grin

Seriously, be honest. You made that snow didn't you (and ran out of water)? Or is that a freakish morning frost? I don't think you even need 4WD for that.

Global warming my butt. If it can snow in Lebanon at 3000 feet, I'm pulling my catalytic converter off tonight. Al Gore, kiss my gritts.

2400 meters = 7900 feet.

As correctly stated, 2,600 METERS, not feet, and the peak was at 3,083 METERS...

Agree that the snow didn't need deflating that much, however, at the peak it was +4 feet deep, no pics as I was the only truck to reach there and didn't have a camera...I do have a video of the truck floating on the ascent at ~20-25 degree snow cliff, but that can't get online until I get states-side to enjoy broadband...

Cheers...

OK, I'll give you that. Oops on the measurement scale-read it too quickly. I was just giving you a hard time from the pics. I was in Iraq and froze my butt off there (not that it didn't get hot).

Al Gore can still kiss my gritts.
