I have a 1995 d-90 soft top, that has been diagnosed with a bad ecu. Checking land rover England, and land rover north America, new ones are months away, rebuilts are not to be found, salvage ones ore tough to locate. does anyone know where one can be rebuilt. My d-90 is more than a bear to start on cold mornings. once started runs GREAT!!!!. We have checked, I believe everything, and only by borrowing a friends ecu does the d-90 cold start easier. Wasn't their a service bulletin about the cold start prom needing to be replaced on '97's and '95's? Thomas, you might send John Robison an email (of Robisonservice.com). He's very knowledgable in the Defender ECU space.

There is a service bulletin about cold start issues, I just went through this. I purchased the E-prom a month ago and had it installed. Rover Connection sells it for $13 or you can get it from a LR dealer for about $26. There is a long thread on this from about a month ago.

Unfortunately, I must have been a sleep during the last thread. I find this interesting. Is there any way to determine by checking/looking if the EPROM has been changed already by the PO? So far, I have not expereinced any cold start issues, but then I don't live in a really cold area either. Are there other advantages to changing the EPROM?
Thanks!
Jeff

There should be a sticker, small white on mine, located on the outside of your ecu, on it hand written by the tech who installed, two numbers. one of the numbers is the prom number and a dealer could tell you if yours has been upgraded or not.... (good info to know about your rover but if its not broke maybe don't fix...)
