Hey all,

My name is Jeremy Holman and I am a soldier deployed to Iraq right now with 1st CAV out of Fort Hood, Texas. I know I don't have alot of posts (since I am a fairly new member here), but I wanted to see if anyone here wants to participate in sending some stuff to soldiers here. I have a similar post over on IH8MUD.com (Land Cruisers) in case anyone think that I might not be legit. Anyway, I am here for the next 10 or so months, and I have been supplying addresses of soldiers (no, I am not requesting anything for myself) to people who have been willing to send small packages or cards to soldiers. I know that you all probably get lots of requests to donate this or that (especially during the Christmas season), so I understand if you aren't interested. I just wanted to make it available in case you want to send anything.

If anyone is interested, please email me at jeremy.holman"at"us.army.mil and I would be willing to give some suggestions for stuff to send and the address or a soldier who would be extremely grateful to receive something from "the homefront." I can attest first hand, that it really helps morale to get an encouraging note or a small package of goodies or items from someone (besides your own family). Anyway, if you want to, let me know and I will link you up with one of the soldiers here. Thanks for humoring me, and I look forward to wheeling with you guys someday.

Thanks,
Jeremy Holman

Hey Jeremy,

(a) Thanks to you and all your buddies for your service!

(b) I've sent, ok, helped send boxes of goodies over there via "Roxywheels" over on Pirate4x4.com ... her husband is in your neighborhood.

(c) We should all give this some thought, although it sounds like anything sent this late may be an early Easter gift instead :) I'm sure it will still pe appreciated!

Good luck and pay attention!

KAA

Keith and Jeremy, I'm all in on this and not just for the holidays.
Letters are one thing, and I have the kids in elementary writting letters. A buddy of mine whose nephew is over there - ride a hummer - ws asking for everyday stuff to share with the locals - little toys, stuffed animals clothes; for adults, jeans, tee shirts and just about everything in between.

If you click on my name, you will get a personal message icon. Drop me a line and I will also contact you.

Jeremy, you guys are my heroes, thanks for your service.
Have you tried Anysoldier*dot*com ? This site is set up to do exactly what you are doing. You can submit your soldiers' requests and act as a single point of contact to distribute the things you recieve. Or, have you had any experience with this site (I didn't see your name posted there)?
I've been sending stuff on this site and the Anymarine site for a couple years now, and its been a great experience on my end. I've been supporting guys in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Djibouti (where ever the hell that is!). I can't get over how great the people are. It has been the kind of experience that, if I didn't know it was possible to show our support in this way, I would have deeply regretted missing the opportunity.
You'll definately be seeing an e-mail from me, I would love to send some support to one of your guys.

There will be a place set and an empty seat at Christmas dinner again this year. To remind us that there is someone paying the price for the freedom we enjoy.

Thanks again. I wish you a safe, peaceful, Christmas.

Rod,

I appreciate all the kind things that you wrote, and I am thankful for everything that you have done already for my brothers and sisters here and abroad. I wish that everyone could experience the brotherhood and comraderie that I have come to take for granted as a member of the military. Here I have met some of the smartest, funniest, and most amazing people that you would ever hope to meet. (Contrary to what some believe, not all of us are 'stuck here' because we didn't study hard enough...) :) Thanks for all your support.

Djibouti (where ever the hell that is!). It's on the coast of Africa...LOL

What a beautiful way to remember, Thank You Ron. My Christmas may not be safe or peaceful, but I guarantee that yours will be. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Jeremy,
Ron's link is great but tell me how you want to move forward. Either way works but if you can get registered in the www.anysoldier.com I can aim everyone to that.
I volunteer at the YMCA and help with the Indian Prncess & Indian Guide progam. On the 11th of January I have a planning meeting and this is on the agenda. We are 450 people, that is a 175 families of 20 odd tribes, if I think I can get the boys and girls writting, and sending stuff.

Stay low, stay tight and stay safe - try to have a great Christmas and know here, we care, we appreciate, and we want you all home safe.
