Hand Brake Not Work

The hand brake gave out after a week of fun ion the mud. ANy suggestions. the hand brake seems to be working on the inside and yet will not engage to stop the defender form rolling. Any suggestions. Where do i start looking. no info on this in my manuals. thanks for the help and time.

I would take off the rear drive shaft and pull the lid off the brake and clean it out...

While you're under there, check for oil leaks. Just replaced the flanges on the t-case that were leaking & causing the brake to foul up.

my bet is mud in the brake drum.

mud in the drum acts as a grinding paste, clean out the drum and adjust the shoes

If you like to play in the mud, you may want to talk to GBR about an X-Brake disc brake conversion.
