Stock hight with more downward travel

Question for ya'll. I want to keep my truck as close to stock hight as I can but really want to increase the downward travel of the suspension. Any Ideas? I'm looking at the Scorpion Racing Evolution but need to do a little more reading.

The scorpion racing evolution kit is what you're looking for then. It comes with the rear shock mounts (lower than stock), bump stops, front upper shock towers (lower than stock), rear trailing links, and brake lines. If I'm not mistaken, it also comes with the front and rear disconnection cones, but I'll double check and post back.

In a nutshell, what the kit does is lower your stock shock mounts to give it more down travel. The cones will guide your coils back in the seats as you will definitely get them unseated with the newly found down travel. Hope that helps.

There are a lot of ways to increase wheel travel.

- You can remove the sway bars and you should gain some down travel. (free)

- What Glenn said!

- Option #1 with OME shocks.

- Add SG stage 1 drop kit, and if you don't want to dish out $250, I have the brackets and Kieth can build you the retainers and bump stop and you should save some $$ over SG.

- What Phill said but it may not work since the stock springs are short and they are going to fall out the cons or you can run 12" travels shocks where you should be fine.

So what's the difference between the SG droop kit and relocation cones? I'm thinking the cones and lowering the shock mounts with longer shocks would be easier. Would you need to lower the shock mounts with the kit anyway? Questions questions questions.

A few people have successfully fabricated the SG droop kit for a lot less than the $250 that they want from it. From what I read, the main component is a fox rear coil shock for a mountain bike and a few metal brackets. And to answer your question, the SG kit is somewhat a spring retainer with more slack. It's almost like a dislocating cone and a retainer combined as it acts like an inner spring that will give your axle that extra droop.

The kit I mentioned above has the lower shock mounts included - and yes, if you do the lower shock mounts, you will either have to retain your springs (upper) or get dislocating cones. Otherwise, your springs will dislocate and will not seat properly once the axle goes back in place.

You could do away with just the shock mounts and the cones, but that is really not the proper way of doing it as it defeats the purpose of the extra travel, since your brakelines are not long enough and have the potential of stretching to the breaking point. Not good! Also, your stock bumpstops might not protect your shocks anymore upon compression so you need longer ones. And it goes on and on....:grin

I do not recommend lower shock mounts and longer shocks, you will bottom out the shocks and eventually kill them. Pick one or the other.

I would not put the SG droop kit w/o 12" or 14" travel shocks. The droop kit work as a retainer/con. You will need some good down travel for the droop kit to work, where the cons don't need that much droop for them to work.
Droop kit makes your D90 more stable then the cons but they cost way more $$ then the cons. And I can go on and on and on :)

If you want max droop w/o getting complicated go with OME shocks and/or SR upper mounts or SG lower mounts, and run retainers since the cons are loud and make you truck unstable.

I've tried every suspension setup on the market and every single one had a draw back. Now I have coil overs and the only draw back is changing the springs to find the best rate. If I were you, I'll save up the $$ and get some coil overs, you still can maintain the stock ride hight and have some looooooooooong legs.

Right now I have Fox coilovers in the back with 2.5-3" lift. When we get back from the CC we gonna do the front.

Damn and here I thought it would be sooo simple :stick . So here's the plan so far. New springs OME/Rovertym (opinions on which to use),SG droop kit, 12" shocks. I like the Scorpion kit but it only drops 2 inches. I'd love a little more than that. Coil overs probably will be in the future. BTW where did you get the coil overs? Thanks for the info keep it comming. I can feel the pay checks flying away fast.

Springs:
OME 751 front and 764 rear.
Shocks:
Rancho 9207 front and 9012 (14")rear. And if you don't mind spending the extra $$ then get Fox shocks with 70/90 valving. Oh yeah, no brake line needed.
and SG droop kit.

I got my coil overs from Pangaea Expeditions. The best price around and best service! I only get my stuff from Rover Tracks and Pangaea. Those guys are the best people I have every dealt with :)
