How much does a Fiberglass Hardtop weigh?

Anyone know? Also, any tips on shipping? I'm thinking UPS ground, could anyone advise me otherwise? Thanks.

Update... just checked UPS and they said:


Package exceeds the maximum size total constraints of 165 inches (length + girth, where girth is 2 x width plus 2 x height).

Large trucking company shippers will do it.

If you decide to ship through a trucking company make sure to but it in crate other wise It'll get damaged. I shipped my roof rack through trucking company and only cost me $50 which is a great deal but it was damaged and I had to pay $$ to have it fixed.

Actually the best bet is to just go get it yourself. Think how many tops we hear of here getting damaged during shipping. The odds are not in your favor even if you insure it.

Man, I wish I could go there and grab it myself, just don't have the time plus the money I'd spend on such a trip would probably equal to what the top cost new.

Having said that, it's actually a top that needs some work anyway. But he sold it to me for cheap that I couldn't pass on the deal. Here is a picture of the top (http://www.whiterovers.com/images/d90top.jpg) which is in pieces. I'm sure I'll be pestering everyone with questions when I receive it. I'm thinking of painting it when I get the repairs fixed.

Yes, the top is cut, but it's apparently for ease of removal and storage. I was talking to a body shop and they said they can easily put it back together. It also has no glass as he sold them seperately, so it'll be an interesting project. :grin

It will not survive in one piece.

And they will be little bitches about paying the claim on it, but it looks like it is already screwed up so no biggy I guess.

I do have one peice of glass for the side and the back of the side/quarter. It would make it so you could at least see.

i had mine shipped cross country and it arrived perfect. Just make sure it is well protected when shipped.

Thanks guys. I looked at Greyhound and it looks like it's the best deal by far. I just emailed the seller and if he agrees with the shipping arrangements, I'll be working on restoring a fiberglass hardtop over the summer. :grin
