So my gas gauge likes to either sit at empty or dance the night away. Any thoughts?

This is a question for John Robison , They just fixed the same problem on my wife's 90 .

Bad connection most likely. Or the sender is bad.

Is it an easy fix?

Depends on which connection is bad, and where it went bad. If it's something behind the gauge it's easy. If it's a bad sender, or bad wiring near the sender, then you have to drop the tank to access it.
I just don't remember on our gauges if they go to empty or full when the ground is disconnected.

They go empty when disconnected. Full when shorted.

so if mine goes empty it must be a disconnected?

Possibly, that is why I suspect a bad wiring connection.
