i have seen this truck up close at a auction in ct. those stripes are made from rubber and looked terrible. the truck however was very nice from what i can remember. he also had a green one with more miles. his was a foreign guys. he wanted tons of $$ for them. needless to say they did not get sold or even bid on for that matter.

Hmm so it does look legal.. says that is passed road inspection and the bond was released.. I wouldn't be too concerned about the mileage.. I bet the person who wrote it down was just like, "yeah 59k and change" ...

Bloody hell, it would be nice to find out how they did that. In 3 weeks no less. It would seem to me someone could charge a *reasonable* fee to keep doing this with the same vehicle many times over and be profitable.

I agree the mileage difference was probably due to someone rounding off.

I thought both were imported by a shop in Rutland, VT who jumped through the hoops for the approval process (i.e. legit). Maybe they did go o another dealer at auction. But those trucks ( the green one as well), were on autotrader for at least a year (which makes sense).

So there is a way to bring 1997 110s into the US through the federalization process? I remember a while back reading the list of vehicles that could be and don't remember seeing it...

On a side not, with 2008 coming up in a matter of months are people lining up LHD '83's to bring in and then convert to spec under the 25 year exemption?

I don't know about lining up, but I have been watching the pricing and it looks like people realize they now carry a premium.

My guess is that a lot of *ahem* "1983" 110s will start showing up early next year; they'll just be *ahem* "restored" to 2007 specs. You see this alot with Classic Minis.

Could this legitimize some of the Rover companys that just stretch a 90 to a 110 or make a series into a new spec truck? The one thing that always kept me from going that route was getting into an accident and then losing everthing because I was driving something that was not what I was insured for.

I was always more concerned about the liability of driving a vehicle that was not what the vin said it was. When I said lose everthing I meant being sued if I was in an accident and hurt someone. Not so much the loss of the vehicle. I dont think stated value insurance would cover my a#% if god forbid someone was seriously injured or killed. Then again how do the limo companies get by when they stretch a hummer or other vehicle. That cant be to different than making a 90 to a 110.
