Hello, I just found out about the D-90 Source and its awesome. I have a quick question and hope to solicit some advise about buying a D90 and then I will remove the post to eliminate the clutter. My first Rover was an ‘87 Range Rover with a ton of miles on it. I had that until I bought a new 94 D90 and drove it for 9 years. Then I moved to Italy and bought an ‘89 2.5L TD Defender and it was great. I couldn't bring it back so I'm in the market again. The prices now seem to be irratic and way high. I'm looking for a Green ‘97 SW but am wondering what the ballpark is. I found one with almost 100K on it and the owner said he will sell it for $31. It's in good condition. Is that way too much for one with 100K miles? It's bone stock, which is good for me. Thanks for any info and I look forward to enjoying D-90 Source. Tim.

Hey Tim,

$31k seems a bit high. But high mileage is of limited importance, how well it was MAINTAINED is the key! We have all seen some low mileage Defenders that were beat up!

Anyway . . .

Last year, I bought a bone stock, 95 D90 Station Wagon, green, with 46k miles on it for $26.5k.

There are deals out there and it pays to be patient, in my opinion.

Good luck!

Greg

Thanks Greg,
The one I'm looking at is one of the LEs I guess their called, the 300 willow green versions. Maybe that's worth something, I don't know. I appreciate the info though and will keep it in mind. Tim

Having an LE is worth something, there is an old thread about it:

Yeah, and generally the '97s are more for two reasons...they are the newest and a lot of people pay up to have the automatic. The LE is also worth more, so generally you are looking at the most expensive defender in the US with the exception of the NAS 110s. What I have seen in the recent past has been high $30s-low $40s for low mileage LEs.

Yeah the LE's are very nice.
I know of a 97' Dark Green w/ 79k miles and the dealer wants $27k.
Very nice and clean but holds a Salvage title from theft recovery, no signs of damage.
I wanted it...but credit union wouldn't touch :(
