Fuel pump noise

My fuel pump is making a loud, high-pitch, whine noise. Is this something I should be worried about, or a common D90 quirk?

I believe that high picth whining is normal. When you turn the key one position it should activate the fuel pump and as a result it primes the system.

If it is the same noise I have you may last a while. Every so often I will hear a high pitched whine coming from the back of the vehicle after I turn off the ignition and it will last for a few minutes and then go away. I don't know if it is coming from the speakers or what. But for what it is worth it has been making the nosie for about 4 years now and so far so good.
