View Full Version : Thread hijacking!

To what point the thread becomes hijacked? Sometimes I see someone posted something interesting but it has nothing to do with thread and I don't feel like starting a new thread for it, so if I post on someones else thread, does that qualify as hijacking?

I was wondering if anyone knows what kind of truck that is in Youself's avatar? It has really big tires.

Anyone know what kind of tires those are?

Oh and also, has anyone seen Bowling for Columbine?

Kind of... but it depends on where it is happening. In Misc Chit-Chat, its not a big deal since, its just a Chit-Chat section anyway.

It should never happen in a Classified listing and depending on the nature of the new direction should be avoided in the Technical section. Reason for that last one is that helpful thread from that section will get moved or copied into the new FAQ section once imported and its less I have to weed out. Also if they stay on track, when similar threads are merged.

So no hijacking in Classified or tech section.
Got it.

Thanks :)

Since its OK with the Boss:tounge

I think the tires are a new High tech plastic released by NASA. Not sure on the truck though, might be some kinda tube buggy.

And yes I have seen Bowling for Columbine and thought that it was very interesting.

Yeah really, the guidelines are more as a "what is expected on how to behave". I think we have a great and active community here and really is not a problem but as I am getting more tied up with things, i cant monitor all the postings.

I'll relook at them this weekend and see if I sounded too stiff.

Why don't you have someone else monitor the posting for you! I'm sure there are a lot of people that won't mind doing it.

Technically this is not high-jacking. Its more like friendly trolling.

Isn't trolling also usually done under a moniker/false user account?

Nah.. it can be done under a valid account although a lot will do so under fake accounts.
