RN has a sale going on OEM Y pipes for $799. The NRP brand is $829, but RN says it tucks up a little higher and is of course constructed of SS. I wouldn't even consider the stock OEM pipe at the typical list price of $1,700, but with the sale it is a consideration. Any thoughts? Is there another brand of Y pipe to consider?

If the cats are what is bad you can just get a couple cats and have a muffler shop weld them in place of the old ones for a couple hundred.

I just did NRP y pipe with Borla exhaust. Sounds nasty sweet! Entire system is SS the defender will disappear from rust but the exhaust will still be there! :) Decent difference in performance. Let that little V8 breathe!!!

Thanks for the replies. The PO had the cats replaced and the butchery is something to behold where the new cats were welded in.

Jonathan, are you having any interference b/t the passenger cat and the driveshaft? When I installed the Tom Woods front drive shaft I had to take a BFH to make it clear. Once again, I think that is probably due to the crappy job that the PO had done when the cats were replaced.

Thanks for the replies, keep em coming!

A good muffler shop can build you something at least as good for probably around $200-$300.

So is NRPs.I hear NRP's quality has gone up and down quite a bit. Doesn't Rovers North own them now?

I forget who made it, but I bought a Y-pipe off e-bay of all places, for $450 a couple years ago. Was a good name brand though, holding up fantastic so far and went in with no issues at all.

Follow-up Post:

Oh, and I though that the DAP stainless pipe WAS the NRP? Supposedly the issue is that they use stainless pipe, but not stainless fittings, so the joints rust and the weld seams go bad.

Does ECR have theirs up for sale yet?

Andrew,
I run a stock drive shaft and have no problems with the fit at all. The borla on the other hand needed a little bit of "tweaking" to get things just right. But no interference with any drive train components.

I've e-mailed ECR a few times and received some pics of their Y pipe. Really a pretty amazing piece as you can see the quality from the photo. They have not quoted a price yet, saying that they are making up a new batch after SEMA and will know pricing at that time. I have a feeling it's going to be outside of my budget.

Is DAP and NRP the same product? Has the quality of the NRP pipe gotten better since RN took them over?
