To be on the safe side, then yes! Snorkel also helps if you are in the desert, as it won't suck dust in to your air box. Also don't forget to get a longer axle breather kit.

I actually want to get a snorkel. Thought I'd share my fun in the river.

Cover your grille too prior to entry. That way your fan isn't sucking all the water into the engine compartment since you seem to know how to make a good bow wave (even if your cheating by going up stream).

Yeah. Funny thing though it was over the hood at some points. The best part was before we wnet through a jeep died in that spot. There are some funny pics of it sitting in the river waiting to get towed.
