a wire/cable from Alt

So I was looking at my truck, the usual inspection. Ever since i got my clutch replaced i have been finding shit wrong. Anyways, I noticed a cable on the altenator that seem like it might have been for a ground? I am sorry I dont have a photo, but its wrapped in plastic goes down by the steering shaft and has a little eye on the end for a bolt or screew to go through, the wire is sorta flat. any thoughts? truck seems to be doing well..

No ground on the alternator. The body of the alternator is the ground. Two wires can be connected: rpm meter, charging light depending on what alternator you have. Two large (or one?) Wires should go to the batterie.
