WOW- that was the tub that was for sale @ MAR ? You have come a long way since October.

Are the pen lines on the fenders where you are going to cut ?

Interesting frame design- and outrageous horsepower. Should be wild.

Cool project!

My .02 is that if you can, stretch the wheelbase several inches. I've been running 37" krawlers on my 90 for years and it is rare that I find myself in a situation where I don't have the ground clearance I need even at 3psi. Bigger tires and a short wheelbase, especially on climbs or ledges, will get sketchy quick.

I'm assuming since you are running an atlas this isn't a mud truck where you might need taller tires.

I'm not sure, but in the pictures it looks like he did stretch it several inches. Out of curiosity, why did you stay with the leaf springs...just simplicity?

Looks great though, keep us up to date!

its stretched to 100

i did the leaf springs for simplicity

i want to wheel not fix things

i will coil it in a few years

100 is probably perfect.

Trust me, you will still fix broken things...hopefully just less often.

Hey man, I really like the rear cut. Can you send me some side profile pics and some other rear frame shots with the tub off if you have them. I'm trying to stretch my 90 in a similar way without dovetailing or totally chopping the fenders. I can't view anything on the other site without signing up. Cool build!

40" is a lot of tire for 100in IMO. Great build though, really dig it.

Well a 40" aired down to 3-5psi is probably more like a 36-37", which is where I run my air pressure. Agreed 40" at trail pressure is a bit much for that wheelbase.

I get what your thinking, but it doesn't really work like that. Your red labels do probably give you more give at 5 psi than mine do, but it's the center of gravity, which is higher by fitting those tires. Also, when you start going over, the crush of the tire rotates out from underneath the truck, if that makes any sense. On a 93in wheelbase, 37's are really 34's but it doesn't mean you should run more tire. The last reason, but a big one, is climbing. Nothing matters as much as wheelbase on a waterfall.

I would want 105 min. But thats an opinion and, with leafs he won't have unloading issues. I love the build, I don't want to hijack it too badly.

I agree it depends on the type of terrain, see my first post about ledges and falls as you point out. I still disagree with regard to the impact of the COG on many techincal boulder strewn trails where ground clearance is more important that COG. Sidewall deflection/deformation may come into effect but keep in mind in at least my case and I think in mvancuren's that we run 17" rims which reduce that some. No doubt an IROK sidewall is stiffer than a BFG Krawler. Bottom line is IMO the nearly 15" he gained in wheelbase and the extra width it looks like he has will be a good combo with that tire size.

It will work great.

I was talking about going over front or back, where wheelbase matters. Your right on the sidewall deformation. It just doesn't work the same front to back. The crush of the tire will transfer out from under the vehicle and how low it is due to tire pressue is offset.

It doesn't really matter though as it is a hypothetical for most wheelers. 103 is pretty close to perfect.
