rhino lining for fiberglass hardtop

HI I am new to your forum and was wondering if anyone has
had their fiberglass hardtop rhino lined. I was very happy to
have just found one through Rovers Down South, thanks GEORGE.
I have not assembled it yet as I am considering lining it and tinting the windows. Will it help with insulation / noise reduction?

This is just a WAG on my part but I dont think it would cut down a too much interior noise. Again this is just a guess.

I have my seat box and rear tub line-X and it cuts down on a lot of noise but adds a lot of weight as well. I would suggest some sort of rolled acoustical matting. Either Dyna-mat or the stuff from McMastercarr. Then some GM 1/4" head liner. I have done this to two different rovers and it works very well. Probably get it done for around $100. I was over talking to the Rhino guys recently as I wanted to Rhino the lid to my console after repairing it from an elbo crack. They told me they do not like putting it on plastic as the thermal difference causes it to seperate. I bet its the same for fiberglass tops?

When installing and removing the top, the main roof section needs to retain its slight flexibility. Otherwise, I can't imagine working around the windshield and the roll cage point joining the exterior and interior sections. As you'll soon experience, its part art getting this thing on right.

George shows a soft top liner for the front half. Its ashame they don't make one for the complete roof fitting both tops. I would think an upholstery shop could do this.

Thanks for the imput guys. I'm going to put it on and see how it
rides before I do anything. I'm use to the noise from the soft top and my old landcruiser, we'll see if this is better. Thanks agian

My das has an upholstery shop, he and I are going to do my top in the next few weeks when the weather breaks and I take it off.

He used to do some aircraft interiors and has some real lightweight sound-proofing stuff that looks like corrugated cardboard. Gonna put that stuff in first, then a layer of 1/4" foam, then cover with fabric to give it a "factory" look. I'll take plenty of pics and post when its done.

I'll get the name of the sound proof stuff and where to buy and post back.

thanks JS I ll be waiting to see how it turns out. I drove the truck today for the first time with the top on and was suprised at how quiet it was, didn't have the plastic sound I expected. Still I am interested in improving the look and thermal factor. CHRIS
