I have have designed and built a full metal drop in replacement cubby box for the '97 center console. It can be up to 8" deep. It is 8" wide and 7" long. The interior configuration is where you call the shots. The one pictured is 8" deep - has a removable shelf, and a removable false floor with two inches of space to conceal documents, iPod, cell phones or Sig Saur 226's. It can be built with dividers, staggered shelves, phone, iPod mounts etc.. It is made of 16 gauge aluminum and the striker for the cubby latch is made of 16 gauge stainless steel.
