Gauge - Which order is it anyway?

I am working on my 1994 D-90 and I would like to make sure my gauges are in the correct order before I finish replacing the rusty screws and replacing the bulbs. Could you confirm what the correct gauge order should be from left to right? Sounds like a simple question, but here is why I am a bit confused.

The workshop manual that I have on disk states that the order of the gauges on a NAS D-90 is the following: Water Temperature gauge, Tachometer, Fuel gauge, then Speedometer. [See picture 1].

I have only seen gauges in d-90s as the following: tachometer, VDO - Water Temperature, Fuel then Speedometer. [See picture 2].

I came across a 110 on ebay with the gauges in the order that matched the manual; Water Temperature gauge, Tachometer, Fuel gauge, then Speedometer. [See picture 3]

Which is the correct order of the gauges for NAS 1994 d-90? Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Mine is set up the same as yours.. tach, temp, fuel, speed ... a lot of the workshop documentation for the 90s is for 1997s (at least all the RAVE cd's are) .. so some things are slightly different.

Is it me, or is the Tach and Temp in pic #2 two slightly turned to the left?

Swap the fuel and tach - it's more correct.

Yeah, they are both turned a little. I don't know why you would turn the tach but on race cars they often turn gauges so that normal reading is straight up so at a quick glance you know all should be straight up without needing to look at the face at all.

I think mine are the same as the 110 you saw on Ebay but I am not near the truck to confirm.

All my defenders are tach, temp, fuel, then speedo. For us fuel and temp are probably the most important. We can't go too fast and we downshift when it gets too noisy :)

Is that for when you really want to see the engine melt down? :) :)

The other folks posted the correct order. You can't swap the tach into one of the lcoations though. I wanted it that may on my 110 years ago, but the tach is long and hits the steering column support so it can't go there. Can't recall what hole that is though... it was more than a decade ago.

If you're referring to the D90 then you're wrong. I have that layout - fuel, temp, tach, speedo.

You have a 97 and that has a totally different tach than we are talking about here. Yours is much shorter and will fit in all the locations.
The original post was asking about a 1994 D90, hence my reply.

In a 1993 NAS 110 or 94-95 D90:
If you put the tach in the location next to the speedo the steering column support prevents the dash from going all the way back easily.
If you push hard enough you can cram the support between the tach mount and wiring plug but this basically jams the POS wire for the tach against the column support (a ground) making a nice place for a wiring short.

This is for stock 94-95 90s. If you don't have the column support or something it may be different, but if all the factory equipment is there and it isn't touching it sure is dam close to.

Since we're in the general dash area, would you mind clarifying which "idiot" lights are supposed to temporarily light up when the ignition switch is first turned to the start position?

Is it the same for all NAS model years?
