Just because I know it drives a few people on this site crazy... here is BR110 #3 in progress.
Those doing their own will be able to follow the pictures and get help from them if they need it. :) :)

Custom color?! Is it at least going to be a LR color? Even a series color?
ECR

Series(ish) color (a tanish/Limestone)... old school Series Rover vibe to the project (as much as can be done with a Defender 110)

YAY!!! More rover porn.
PS you should put the aux heater and ST doors/door tops removed from 208 in the for sale section. . .hint hint.

Really?.... It had spray foam all over it, I can't imagine anyone paying for it. (?)
I'll see if I can fish it out of the trash.
The doors were rotted hard core... dumpster bait.

Mike -- anything will sell for the right price, its just if you want to go through the hassle to ship it or not..

I am sure the heater, doors [and door tops and latches] would be more than adequate for my needs. The doors cannot be that bad and they are already white which makes them perfect for swapping on during the summer.

I called today and placed an order for 3 name plates. When I called it should take about 2-3 weeks for shipping. I was told they are formed from cast ali and about 6-8mm thick. we shall see. If they do not ship to the US let me know

Not that bad. Would have been better in Limestone, but it's not ofensive like the Mary Kay or Blingy Blingy D's that have been posted before.

I don't know, I think the color will come out looking good... It needs to have a ton of black on it though breaking it up a bit... I've always wanted to see a rover in a good tan color, the ones I've seen haven't been impressive.

Ah no, you need to see this thing in person. Tan would be "nice". I walk around with a vomit bag.

It'll look fine with the quality of paint you guys do anyway. Sometimes it's nice to go off the reservation every once in awhile.
Yeah, the customer is. I learned tht lesson working my way through college in a clothing store.

Casey,
I think you will be suprised when it is done. Tan series rovers look top notch, especially when faded out a bit lighter than the roiginal as this color appears to be.

Aw, that will look fine - in a special-ops sort of way. See if the customer will buy a WMIK roll cage and then you can save the NAS cage for another project.

What you don't see in the pics is the "hue' of the color...it has a weird tint to it. I agree, a tan truck would look very good, with galy capping etc..., no arguement there.
Oh yeah, it's CAREY... :)
I suppose I should've worded it differently as well. I don't walk around with a vomit bag all day  , it's just a "different' color,...who is anyone to judge what someone else deems appealing. I'm sure it will turn out well. I would've tried talking them into metallic orange metal flake personally! :pimp

Orange with a metallic gold flake on top. My Sycip Diesel Single Speed came that way. Awesome paint.

Sycip Bros repainted one of my Swiss Crosses - so sweet.
I think Vesuvius Orange would look sweet. Of course Tangiers would also be great.

That looks alot like the series color 'sand'.
Are you painting the cappings, or galvanising them? It also looks like you are retaining the euro rear light layout.
As for bicycle colors, My wife's Cannondale is orand with gold flake, and it does look nice. Ive always liked 'Celeste' from Bianchi but I think Rovers look best in single stage, non-metalic paint.

Celeste is similar to the pastel green. Another tasty classic color.

Galvanized cappings
1997 NAS tail lamps
The body tubs sides we use have the hole as they are from a Euro 110 (NAS tub sides have cage holes and are NLA), but those holes get covered up with the NAS side trims.

mike, that's good come back color. i like it. i bought a rangie from the local toyota store and they offer that color in the fj's.
how much do these cost anyway? with a supplied donor. auto, 4.6 conversion, a/c, jump seats, alloys, removeable hardtop and soft top. have you done a hardtop/soft top coversion?? seems like the cage would all have to be shrunk down, as well as some modifications to the hardtop. just curious.
looking good.

Just looked at the updated progress. I really like it. Are those a factory wheelst? Specs (overall width and backspacing)?
That tan color does go well with the galvanising. What color will the top be?

The rims are 130 rims (same as NAS 110) ANR1534PM
Top color is going to be Black. I was thinking tan, but customer choice in Black. There is a lot of Black on the truck so it will look good.
I wanted to do SIII style headlight trims as well for the old school look, but the fabrication time to fill the extra holes in the front fenders correctly was going to end up not being worth the slight change in look for the customer.
The truck is nearly done and undergoing road tests now. Its headed to Badger for the top in a week or so, then off to the customer. I'll get some final shots of it posted soon.
The next one is Arles Blue (looking forward to seeing that one), then 2 more White ones.

The overall look/theme is very close to what I'm trying to capure on the decade long build of my 100" hybrid. You have done a nice blend of old styles and new. What about fender flares (my vote is no)? I cant wait until its done. Ill print the pics off and hang them in my shop for inspiration.

Flares are a must. The tires stick out about 2" past the body, so we have to install them. Defender wheel openings without flares would look a bit goofy without flares with that small of a tire IMO.

Bare handed, or with the choice of a landrover part as a weapon? :D
-Jeff

April 23rd, 2008, 12:51 PM
LR part of choice. No driveline parts, and you must be able to manually wield it - i.e. no chassis or bulheads. I choose the front radius arm. -5 to initiative but +5 to damage.
cgalpin
April 23rd, 2008, 12:56 PM
Mmh. Unless you are a pretty big guy, wielding a front radius arm would be slow and tiring. I could dance around you for a while and then once you tire, use my rear trailing arm to inflict massive blunt force trauma.
But I'm on your side on this, so I'll watch your back while you rest.
130Tdi
April 23rd, 2008, 01:32 PM
LOL,
Gotta agree with Charles- the rear trailing arm would be my weapon of choice once I had exhausted my cache of alloy lug nut projectiles and let you in close enough for hand to hand.

A drag link with the tie rod end still in it would make a nice hit and puncture wound device...

I was thinking an oil cooler line would work well when spun like a lasso, however the key to your truck could be a nice defensive/retreating weapon.

Sadly I have given this more thought. Are we to consider the time to remove said weapon from our vehicles before we can use it. That would radically change my choice - I think I'd just pull the hood prop and start wailing at you while you wrench. How about using third party accessories like hi-lift handles and bars? When's the fight?
Sorry to perpetuate the hijack Mike.

Its the artificial horizon that whines like a jet engine, and yes it really has one and it is fully functional. We are a custom shop, anything the customer wants, they get.
The door panels are grey to match the Badger seat covers. They can be done in any color you like, so when we build yours we can do them in the color of your choice. :grin :grin

100?

The donor 90 cost more than 40K
Doesn't matter on the cost, because I said from the start that the BR110s were going to be a very limited edition vehicle run from us, and we just confirmed what I think may be the last one this morning, lucky #7.
We did however recently sign on project BR127 #1. That will be fun.

The correct weapon of choice is a D-90 or D-110 track rod (longer than the drag link).

BR127 is for a very tall customer, so we will be making the front doors and front passenger area longer than stock to handle the customer's size, and then making the rear seat area large enough for adults with front style seats in the middle row. The cargo area will be the in "stock" form.
