It is definitely on my list - I am waiting to hear back from them. If it is clean I'm gonna put my '97 up for sale.

I also talked to the owner today. Sounds like a good guy. Looks like Len and I are going to have to fight to the death over it.

John,

Is your 110 always parked at Rose Cafe?

No I just bought my 110 last week but I can tell you that I spent many a morning having coffee looking at that 110 and dreaming of owning one. Not sure who owns it but I think he may have sold it because now i see him driving a G55. If anything you may have seen my olive drab 109 pickup at the Rose.
You in Venice?

Len, You bring a knife and I will bring a gun. Honestly I am looking at this a bit different than you. As much as I would love to have a 110, there is no way I would part with my 90 and since I can't keep both I am seriously thinking about buying it and doing some minor work and selling for a quick profit. It just seems priced right. My only regret is I didn't know it was for sale in LA when the current owner got it in Sept.

John,

I did the same thing you did at Rose cafe for years. I am in Hermosa but I work in the Marina if you want to compare defenders any day.

One of you guys hurry up and buy it because my wife has now decided she would rather drive my 110 instead of her new Range Rover (yes this is why i married her) so I may need to ditch her car and buy this one! I have carfax on it if anyone is interested.

Talked to Four Oaks and it was only serviced once there in 2005. Obviously a lot can change and the truck may have a new frame but according to the Four Oaks notes in '05 it had extensive chassis rust. I am still interested to see pictures of it on a lift but this truck may be a can of worms.

I dont see how you claim the vehicle was "meticulously cared for and serviced by four oaks" if they have only seen it once if you are going to make that claim I would think you would mentioned if it had a new frame. Let me know what you find out but my enthusiam for this truck just went away. Also be aware the carfax showed it failed smog in November and then it was quickly sold. Now thats probably no big deal but it certainly turned over owners pretty quickly.

I am a bit confused by it as well. I know the current owner is not the one who brought it to four oaks so maybe he is just relaying what he was told.

Since this truck spent most of its youth on the east coast ( a place that applies sodium chloride on their roads in the winter as liberally as I apply catchup to my fries) it would be no surprise that the frame is about to go. I am sure that if the truck has a new frame the owner would be listing that fact as a feature of the truck. I have seen 2 and 3 year range rovers from the east coast that had so much frame corrosion that the 2" tow receiver crumbled when my wrench inadvertantly tapped it.
ECR probably owes much of it's early exsistance to sodium chloride - they pioneered their state of the art frame swaps on rovers from a local land rover customer base. I asked to see the truck this last weekend - but the owner was preparing to leave town until Tuesday. I think before I take time off work to drive up there (about an hour from my location) I would like to see a couple pics of the frame and door sills.

http://cnj.craigslist.org/car/584436346.htmlI believe (pretty sure) that is the one at Land Rover Cherry Hill NJ dealership. If so, I checked it out over the Xmas holidays and have alot of pics I can share with anyone interested. It wasn't bad but not great either. They did some sill repair on it but there is still alot of rust to deal with for the new owner. And, for me, not worth anywhere near the asking price.

VIN: SALDH1284PA920472

I went to LRCH site and the truck was there the other day. Not there now. It was also listed on Cars.com site and that ad is still active - http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp;?tracktype=usedcc&searchType=21&pageNumber=0&numResultsPerPage=50&largeNumResultsPerPage=0&sortorder=descending&sortfield=PRICE+descending&certifiedOnly=false&criteria=K-%7cE-%7cM-_26_%7cD-_254_%7cN-N%7cR-100%7cI-1%7cP-PRICE+descending%7cQ-descending%7cZ-07930&aff=national&paId=261769658&recnum=0&leadExists=true

I have the carfax report on it also somewhere around here.

Excellent - thanks. That truck was advertised when I bought mine, I think the only real difference was that my seller didn't attempt to put lipstick on the pig.

The guy finally contacted me via email yesterday. Even though I had made it clear i wanted images of the door sills and any rust and frame- he sent me images of the interior with the doors open (just no sill pics)... there is some bubbling paint at the bottom of the doors, rusty patch on a door frame near the latch catch mechanism and a nasty patch of rust on the rear cross member - When I asked about it in a subsequent email he said the frame was rock solid -with some minor surface rust on the door sills that he wasn't too concerned about. He said it just had a tune up, replaced two ox sensors and it passed smog. I will work on the images to reduce their size and post them. Even though it is only an hour away from my house I am sort of reluctant to go see the truck - I get the feeling this guy may be full of crap! and I don't want to be waisting my time and gas money. If I do go look at it will be this weekend and I'll take my own pics. (The interior did look ok).
