March 8th, 2008, 12:40 PM
After years of inactivity, Kansas City's Land Rover club is Back!
To help us resurrect the club, Aristocrat Motors has asked Flatland Rover Society to join them in a few Land Rover events this year.
They are planning to hold the first event, Thursday, March 27, 6:00 PM, at Aristocrat Motors (just look for the Rovers). This will be more of a social event, with hors d’oeuvres and drinks. We will also discuss future off-road events for 2008.
Please IM me with email addresses of other Rover enthusiast that I may not have, so that they may be notified of this event.
Thanks, Jon

Hey Jon,
Thanks for carrying the torch!
If this were April 27 rather than March, I'd run right down .... unfortunately, folks still want their tax returns completed by April 15
Be sure to collect names / get photos / etc.
Keep us all up to date!
Best,
Keith

A good 15 to 20 people showed up to the Aristocrat event in March. We all had a good time, and the food and drinks weren’t bad either. It was nice to see old friends all together at the same time.
If we have a Tec. Session or get together before the next Aristocrat Motors event, I will let everyone know. If you want to be on Aristocrat’s mailing list please contact Kevin Smell at Aristocrat (913)-677-3300.
I do not anticipate any formal mailings/news letters from Flatland Rover Society (FRS) anytime soon. FRS is slowly coming back from the grave, so please bear with us, and the slow progress.
The next event will be a joint event with Aristocrat Motors. Aristocrat Motors is planning a trip to Kansas Rocks May 17. The contact person at Aristocrat Motors for all of their events is Kevin Smell.
And of course any Land Rover Club is welcome to any of our events. We would love to have the extra people and trucks.
The next proposed event is a Tec. Session, hosted by Tyler Werkin. I will post a message on the details soon.
Thanks, Jon

Sounds like things are starting to get moving. Thats great.
How big of a crowd do you expect at the tech session, and what sort of repairs are we up to?

Looks like I am out for tomorrow night and possibly next saturday. Finals are next week and I have to study this week for them. Then I have to move out of my apartment on the 17th.
I will definitely be more involved over the summer though. I can't wait. (A real club, OH BOY!)

Kris,
I think Jon said we are expecting around 10 for this first event. As for the repairs, I am just hoping that someone can tell me why my truck wont start when it rains, most of the time, but sometimes it does, and other times only when there is condensation, and sometimes when not...

MattWell too bad we couldn't figure out why, but tossed around some ideas. Wonder if it would start this morning and prove you wrong, I still believe my theory of it's mad at you is why. :)

Staci,
No luck on the start this AM after the rain. I did get the chance to check the fuel line and have fuel coming out the filter, so I can eliminate my fuel pump idea. However, once I did get the fuel line reconnected it fired right up. Coincidence perhaps, but by then, the rain had stopped for about an hour or so - but it was not starting when I started on that endeavour, which did include a run to the store for new hose clamps.

Hmmm....maybe Tyler touching it made it behave :-D. I told you to just have a talk with her about all those nasty parts you put on her. It still seems fuel related though.....

We all had a great time on Saturday. The weather was perfect, and we all hit some fun trails. There were enough trails at Kansas Rocks to satisfy all. I am sure we will have many more events there in the future.
I would like to start planing a Flatland Rover Society (FRS) event. Please give my your ideas. I was thinking of having an event in July, over the long 4th of July weekend.
Also, please send me emails of other Rover enthusiast that may be interested in FRS events.
