Fuel pump removal!

So I'm trying to take the fuel pump assembly off, I discounted all the lines but having hard time taking the red ring off, it's driving me crazy as I put all my power to it and It would not spin. The dealer told there is a spacial tool but the parts department can not get me this tool? How can I take the fuel pump off or ring?

Try a wide flat head screwdriver and drive it with a hammer on the ridges in the ring. Might deform an individual ridge slightly but this method worked for me, also think about getting new compression fittings and rubber seal when reassembling, the old seal was a pain to try to put back in after being removed.

I've tried to do it this way but I had a small screw driver and it didn't work, so after your advice I got the biggest hammer and screw driver and went on it, got it loose :)

Troy, no need for doughnuts. However, I might take a dozen to Keith so he install the Cadi pump :grin

So, I installed the Cadi fuel pump in yesterday and my D90 still don't want to start. The pump doesn't do the buzzing noise when you have the ignition on. All the fusses looks fine but I can't seem to find the relay. The picture attached shows some relay's, can anyone tell me which one it is? Any other advice to help with the fuel pump problem.

YOusef, what about the inertia switch? I have no idea where it is but you might have to reset it. that cuts the fuel also.

Two comments. Soak the ring with WD-40 and then just rap it with a screwdriver and hammer on the tangs... make sure you smack it in the direction that it should move, look for grooves...

Second, chuck/cut the old fuel pump out and leave the line with the filter attached to the end so it extends to the bottom of the tank. then install a Napa external high pressure pump on the frame just after the inline factory fuel line filter... I believe it is a #1000. But I'll check mine later if you want to know. It runs about $100.00, but you'll never have to worry about the price or quality as compared to the LR junk.

Randy, inertia switch is fine! I had a couple of friends over last night and they were trying to find the problem. The fuel pump works just fine but somewhere between the ignition and fuse box there is no power, it got to late last night so we had to stop. We'll work on it again soon.

Does anyone have the wiring diagram? I need to know where the blue/white wire goes to from the fuse box?

I can check tonight but I recommend just replacing the wire with a new one, it's just easier.

I did not see an answer to your question about the location of the Fuel pump relay.

In case you are still looking for it, and assuming yours is located in the same area that mine is (95 D90), the relay is in the engine bay against the firewall on the driver side.

Yousef, my diagram is for a 94 and the relay is between the ECU and the fuse box under the dash. The wire then runs from there to behind the fuse box then along the frame rail to the PS side of the tank then behind the tank to the DS. This is what my diagram shows.
