Ok, so I have to admit that at the ripe old age of 40 I just discovered Land Rover.
I am lookin to get a D-90 or similar to just have for a fun vehicle. I haved owned
jeeps but wanted something more. This is a secondary vehcile for me.
I have found this one in Chicago.

What am I missing? The price seems too low for this vehcile. Interested in anyone's opinion.
Thanks,

You're missing that the price isn't posted, that is just the current bid with 6 days to go.

Your also missing that there is a ton of rust on that thing. If you look close enough you can see what looks like most of the rear cross member rusted out. All the picture seem to be strategically taken to avoid any any bad areas of the truck, I would certain look before I buy. He had a BIN price on that truck of $23+ two days ago, guess the removed it.

The ad says "The under side appears to have been undercoated to protect from further corrosion"
It looks like spray-paint rather than undercoating. You can see from the last set of pictures, what looks like spray-painted over rust on the frame. Lots of over-spray marks and speckles. Just looks like they're trying to hide or minimize the rust.

Philo -- Basically, be prepared to spend around $18-30k for a decent example of a 94/95 D90.. lower mileage+better condition the higher the price... There are occasionally some for a little bit less than that, but they are rough.

The truck will be strictly for play. I have quite a few vehciles, and really just want something different. Really like the 110's, would like to make it a project. This site is like Pelican for Porsche. Will continue to read, and learn. Thanks for the input.

Go on cars.com. There is a 1995 hardtop in Manasquan. I have seen it on the road but don't know anything about it. Take a ride and see what it is like. It isn't too far from you. I'm having my Alfa worked on at Fast Company in Vineland. If you wanted somebody to check it out for you there is a Dealer (Monmouth Land Rover) about 10 miles from Manasquan or I would recommend Yeager Automotive in Belmar. Merrill Yeager is closer, very knowledgeable and has worked on my Series lll and 1997 Defender for some time.

sooooo 1 last note on this Chicago Defender. I was reading the ECR site and saw where they point out the different "font" on the odomoter. Sure enough, check out the pics on this Defender, and you can see that it is not an original odomoter. I called the guy and got no response.
