Help With Rear Mudflaps

I got my rear mud-flaps that I bought from Ryan Sakurada today (thanks Ryan!!) They were off a 110 and the brackets don't line up with anything --no real surprise there.

Can anyone out there:
1) Take a picture of the way their mud-flaps are mounted.
2) Get the part numbers for the mounting brackets that fit the NAS 90.

I believe that the 98 50th anniversary addition, that was sold in the UK had the tubular rear bumper and also had rear mud flaps.

I think the 110 mudflaps were specifically for the 110. I got my flaps from RDS, they will work with the rear bumper however you will have issues with the rear tailpipe. Call George at RDS I know he had the mounts at somepoint.

I can take a snaopshot tomorrow, but 110 flaps aren't right for a 90. THey are made to sit closer to the tire on a 110, due to the added overhang of the rear. The 90 brackets mount straight to the bottom of the rear cross member, and the flap hangs flush with the rear cross member.

The flaps themselves are in "like new" shape. I will most likely end up fabricating the brackets to make them work on the my 90

There is a difference between the "UK style" mounts and those from the NAS.

There is no such thing as NAS spec mudflap.

The white truck above has SERIES mudflaps on it.

The pic Phil posted is a standard 90 mudflap.

I actually have one spare bracket from my mounting travails.

The one I have is from '98 forward (slightly different shape), so you'd have to order the matching other side and make sure it is also '98 stock forward.

I have seen NAS 90's with those exact mounts! every truck from the UK has the mounts like in the 2nd photo

That's cuz SERIES mudflaps were available stateside, but 90 flaps were not.

I think that Rovers north has the current mudflap for sale, i dont like the exhaust cutout. I ripped both my rears off last fall. and had to order Td5 style mudflaps from the UK, which was cheaper than RN fwiw. I bought my first setup many years ago from RDS, I believe the bracket was separate from the flap

A couple of things that you may want to consider before dropping 100 bones on mud flaps.

1. They don't really keep the back of your truck much cleaner in the rain

2. If you are really in the mud, they pack the mud in deaper into your wheel wells and around the gas tank.

3. You will tear them off in the rocks when you back up aginst a rock and the flap gets wedged between the rock and the tire.

but good for logging type roads and for keeping my wife's LR3's windshield intact.

For Mud/ real trails they would come off.

I know having front mud flaps really does a good job on cutting back the mud slung around under the truck. The rears dont do much, they do keep rocks from hitting peoples windshields, its more a courtesy thing imo.

What I think is even more important than mudflaps is an inner wheel well that actually provides full coverage. Those gaps at the bottom rear of the front wells are the worse sourse of crap getting where it shouldn't. I know it's not a big deal to fit a piece of rubber to close them up, but I would love to see a full plastic inner well with no gaps.

I have no idea, I found that photo years ago. I imagine it clamps to the spare tire, looks to be a thule.

You are 100% correct. However, they do a nice job of keeping the rock chips down on the side of your rig if you happen to drive gravel roads a bunch. My gravel drive has beaten up a bunch of cars/trucks. I do agree if you use your truck off road the trails will remove them for you.

That exact thing happened to me at SCARR this weekend. Never been to an event like that, so I didn't think it through enough to remove the flaps. Unfortunately, when the mud flap got ripped off, it didn't tear off completely. Instead it ripped the bolt holding the mud flap bracket right out of the fender. Ah, more pop rivets and angled aluminum.

You can do what the dump truck drivers do and use a hook to roll the flap up when the situation calls for it.
