Fascinating - carfax/autocheck does not have a record of this fire, so it hasn't been reported as an insurance loss. Thats not a problem necessarily, but its a good reminder that a carfax is an incomplete record of a vehicle's history.

Also, its already at 21k, I think that will be a very interesting data point on the scale of NAS 110 values. Here is a truck that needs 8-11 k in repairs, appears to be nice corrosion-wise, and is for sale. Like I said, interesting...

Surprisingly the truck has a clear title. It was not totaled by the insurance company. I actually wanted to buy it a few weeks ago but he mentioned he had a guy taking it off his hands. I went out of town and obviously that fell thru. Could be a steal for the right person.

Actually its not surprising that the title is clear. If it happened to me, and I had a clear title, I would take a reduced settlement from the insuance company vice getting a branded title. Most people know the value of a branded title is less than a clear one. Also, for an individual of means, there is no reason not to self-insure and not bother with the expense of comprehensive coverage. 8-11k in repairs is nothing compared to the "book" 50-60% value hit for a branded title. Not odd at all according to me, just an interesting data point. This is why I'm monitoring the market. Its very similar to why people like baseball, just cooler, and without steroids.

That makes sense. Oh and one correction. The owner of British Car Service is Stephen. Pete owns Marina Motors and services my Series 109. Too many trucks too many mechanics!

the seller forced the deal to fall through. i think he wised up and decided to try his luck on ebay. the guy taking it off his hands was pretty burnt up and the truck was offered at a much lower price than the opening bid.

Can't begrudge someone wanting top dollar, but it always sux to hear about flaky deals.

It won't be a steal for anyone. Its already been bid up higher than I paid for my running, unburned, albeit rusty 110.

Same here. And mine had no rust issues. How about this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=003&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=130216700911&rd=1

It's already above $40k, complete with rust.

I guess we should keep an eye out for #184, something tells me that it will end up getting flipped for $75k to $90k by end of summer...

Its got 120K miles on it... ain't gonna be flipped for big money. We are getting flooded with calls about that truck with the "How much to fix it questions". Some fool will buy it thinking they can put it on the road on the cheap. Unless you do it yourself... it isn't going to be cheap.

JimC's NAS 110 registry should already have noted the miles and the pictures of the fire and have that cataloged in the registry.

Sounds like it'll be one of those hard lessons for someone...
