Hi all, has anyone replaced the original pressed wodden/paper subwoofer box under teh black plastic subwoffer shroud that hangs on the rear door? My spare tire carrier assembly was rattling fiercley and when I investigate it, I found the sub-woofer box (that bolds from the tire carrier go through) was shot completely. I took the box to my dad (cabinet maker) and he claims he can make me a new one, but wanted to see if anyone has had the same issues before I take this route. Is there a simple way to replace this thing? It has absorbed so much water, it is completely shot. Thanks for the advice.

I know someone that has one made from Dimond plate. Looked nice, I e-mailed the guy but I am still waiting.

Wow, diamond plate aluminum! I'll bet that did look nice, I am curious though how it would sound given the resonance of aluminum vs wood. I would much rather find one made from wood that exactly replicates the current LRNA version (under the plastic shroud) so I can still use the plastic shroud, and retain the great sound the original provided. Any idea how the aluminum one sounded? Do you know if it fit under the original OEM shroud? Thanks!

I will take a pic when I see him and listen to it. I am not sure what the shroud looks like so I don't know if it would fit.

hey fellas... i had the same problem with my sub... so i manufactured a box from aluminum treadplate. werks GREAT! i was able to include more BOOM, two infinite kappa 10's, and added a 200 watt amp to drive 'em. the key is to seal the box totally - i was able to achieve this by lining my box with heavy duty rubber stripping. ill include pix, if i can figure out how (?!?) :grin

Wow that is impressive! Do you mind if I ask approximately how much it cost to do this? Thanks!
