rivnut gun

any one have a rivnut gun i could use?would hate to spend $100 on gun and adapters for only a couple of shots. obviuosly i would pay for shipping from and to.thanks to any one for the help

If they are Rivet- Nuts that you are setting, build your own tool using stacked washers, a bolt of the same size that you are setting the nuts for (but longer), and a nut that threads on to the bolt.

1 Take bolt and thread on the nut.
2 Add washers 6 or 8 should work.
3 Thread on rivet nut
4 Insert Rivet-Nut into hole
5 Hold Bolt with a wrench---do not turn!!!!
6 Spin nut down toward the Rivet-Nut----turning part!
7 Careful not to over-tighten

I have one you can borrow. What size nuts are you installing and for what purpose.

About a year ago I was faced with the same dillemma. I am a firm believer in owning the correct tools when you can afford them.

I needed a rivnut tool, found a good one and admittedly cringed a bit when I bought it.

BUT...the good news is I am using it quite a bit more than I ever dreamed I would.

If you don't own one you don't see the need for one, once you own one you really put it to use. Granted, I could live without it, and for the occasional use the stacked washers and bolt trick does work well, but if you're going to set a lot of them you ought to think twice about getting the tool (again...if you can afford it).

richard-i need it for a couple 10m nuts,the 2 nuts that go in to the bulkhead that hold the steering colum bracket in the engine bay and two nuts that hold the heater bracket also. replaced the bulkhead and the new one did not have these. michael-after i get this 90 back together i am never working on any thing again(wait a minute,then that would mean i own a 90,doesnt that mean you have to work on them all the time?)

I will take a look to see if I have the 10mm attachment arm. I used it to put 6mm to hold down my hard top. I will check tonight.

Matt, I can't tell you how tired I am of working on trucks.

If I could afford it I'd have a fleet manager and a mechanic.

I've been under the 80-inch this morning working on the PS pump, replacing rear tie rod and getting it ready for the summer.

Next I'll be working on the CrewCab getting the A/C pullies installed and belts tensioned. It's getting too warm to drive w/out either the windows down or the A/C blowing.

It NEVER ends.
