NAS 110 SD Cage Black or White

Ok I am goint to start work on my new 110. The hardware holding the cage toogether is rusty so I am going to replace it with stainless. While I am at it I think it needs to be repainted/powdercoated. So I am tosssing around whether to keep it white or change it to black. What do you guys think will look better? I am alos unsure if I should powder coat it or just paint it. I suppose paint would be alot easier. I assume the powder coater would have to remove all the current finish and start over, which may not be that easy. So would you paint or powder coat?

Properly prepped and powder coated will hold up much better than painting, especially if you don't plan to strip the cage completely before doing so. I like the cages black better myself, but everyone has their own opinion...

I would go with black. The paint should come off easy with a little sand/media blasting. No reason to skimp on the job, taking the roll cage off won't be a cake walk. It not like it is hard, but it also want take 30 minutes either.

I am going to do mine in black when I get around to it(powder coated). Do they make SS bolts that are rated the same as the factory hardware? I remember reading somewhere(ECR maybe) that they use factory bolts because SS is rated as strong when they replace hardware on the roll cage.

Depends on your overall budget I guess, I'm trying not to go crazy on this one. I like the color black and am getting ready to do the same thing to mine. I decided that I'll try the rattle can approach first and use the money I would have spent on powder coating for something I need more like recovering the ratty nasty seats. If I don't like the outcome, I'll powder coat it later.

I think all that tube in black starts to look a bit mad max especially if the truck is white... If it one of the few NAS 110's then it came white, and I would want to keep it that way, LR all the way!

I struggled with this decision myself, but in the end, I had mine media blasted and re-painted Alpine White.

Well, personally I hated black and loved the white at first. Over time the black grew on me and now I love it just as much. Since I will be selling when I finish it, I followed the majority opinion and went with black. I would definitely powder coat it for two reasons.

1. It will last a lot longer
2. When I priced both it was considerably cheaper to have it powder coated.

How much was it to powder coat it? I take it that it is powder coated from the factory. Does that mean they have to strip it completely and start over or can they repowder coat over existing powder coat?

When they did mine I had them do the entire cage (including the inner hoop that the 110 has) plus the brush guard, vent covers and the ladder. They completely stripped all the parts before powdercoating and the total was a little over $300. The place I took it to had a minimum charge as do most powdercoaters, so you should take as much stuff as possible at once. I am taking the basket, rear bumper, front bumper, inner cage pieces and a few other things over next time I am home.

Alpine White. As more and more people paint these things black, the white looks better and better to me.

I love the black roll cage. I think it adds just the right amount of some needed color to break up the huge whiteness of the 110.

Ok the cage is off and at the powder coating facility. Was not to hard at all to remove. I am going black, but do you think gloss,satin,or flat would look best?

I am surprised the rock sliders in the above pictured 110 are white, I don't think I would have done that.
