My '95 D-90 is trying to tell me something, I'm getting a code 48, which I believe tells me to look at the stepper motor, a solinoide??? maybe needs cleaning??? I think I found it, left side lower plenum chamber??? I removed this, how do you clean it??? I just put it back, reset check engine light, a few days later I'm getting a code 48... Am I on the right track? did I find the stepper motor? is it cleanable? do I just replace it?

The truck runs great, but that check engine light is on....

Yes that is the Stepper Motor. WD-40 works well to clean them. It should have some movement of the shaft that extends into the plenum. Not sure if it will trigger the engine light. But I have seen erratic running and surging due to the thing being stuck. Maybe someone here can enlighten us both about the light. I personally wouldn't worry about it. My first Rover wouldn't even make it home from the dealer without it coming back on. A half dozen Rovers later and you quit worrying about the minor idiosyncrasies of the Rover
