Hey Guys,

Honestly...what kind of mileage do you think our vehicles' engines are capable of? Let's say (for the sake of discussion) that the truck has been serviced regularly (oil changes and fluids) and maintained to the highest standards. 300K?

What do you think? I know that a lot of us have vehicles in the 40,000 to 80,000 mile range. Anyone out there with over 200,000 or 300,000 miles?

Thanks,
Brian

I had 325,000 miles on my old 88". The records (which were complete) showed valve job, multiple seal jobs, gaskets, etc., but the pistons, main bearings, etc., appeared to be all original, and it ran great. Of course that was a completely different motor. This depends on the quality of the machining of the various engine parts in the V8, and quality of engineering of the same, as well as quality of bearings, etc. Unknown to me.

I know it is a different body, but the 3.9 in my 1990 RRC has 200357 miles right now and is working fine. I had the heads redone at the shop when I blew the head gaskets due to a leaky radiator. Otherwise still original and running fine. I am going to sell the truck because I drive the Defender now, but it is a good engine.

I ran my '92 RRC out to ~165,000 mi. before the engine had to be completely redone. Besides the engive, everything else still works great.
