Miller Jeep Trail So Cal

Anyone interested in doing Miller Jeep trail in a few weeks?
Prefer a saturday or even a weekday. Maybe mid to late April?

My rig is pretty much stock and I am a newbie when it comes to offroad driving, but I would be interested. Shoot me an e-mail or PM me. We may also be able to get James out. He lives close by to me.

I would but we have the NVTR coming up soon.

The MJT is pretty tough in a couple spots, but there are workarounds at some of them. There are some great roads in the general area though, personal favorites are YellowJacket and the 118.

I have done MJT a few times in my RR but this will be the first in my 130. It will be a few weeks probably. Where is the 118 trail in relation to MJT?. And is the Yellowjacket the deadend trail that is about midway through the MJT? I will post the date when I am ready to go.

I get off work that morning around 6:30. I should be able to make it to the trailhead by 9:00 after all is said and done. I will have my 130 and a buddy of mine will have his 110 and possibly another classic. Should be a good day.

On a side note, the TVR fired today, first time! It might be my imagination, but it sounds like the monster I suspected it would be!!! Still a LOT of fitting to do. Fan shroud doesn't fit, plenum intake too large, etc, etc.

One of my tires was flat when I got up this morning BTW. Bent the inside of the rim :(

Nice pics Kevin! Some real nice views out there. What did you do to pop the bead on the tire?

Mike,
This was a section I couldn't make it up before I figured out he diff lock was not engaging. I was being winched up and had about 15-20 psi in the tires. The wheels were turned and as it was being winched it pulled the tire off the wheel. The groung was very loose unconsolidated dirt.

Well if thats the most damage you did then your doing pretty good. I can't say much as the last time I did damage it was on the road.

Yeah, that Miller trail is pretty hairball in some places, especially when dry. We mostly take it on dirtbikes these days. We did it once in ice and snow this last winter.

Looks like it's a long wheel base only club here. Maybe I'll get a trailer or something so I fit in on the next run. ;)

Doug, you're going to need a bigger winch to haul all that motor up the hills now.

Lol, Chammy has a brand new Detroit sitting in a box, ready to go in the Salisbury. So I'm thinking the 5.0 ought to have enuf grunt to pull a TRAIN up the Miller trail. ;)

Question: I'm adding a row to the radiator (basically a 33% increase in capacity) and putting two 12 hi-flow fans on it. What if that's not enuf to cool off this friggin monster? What then? Radiator on the ROOF? Suggestions? (No I can't put the 3.9 back in, it's sold and gone.)

I'm also looking into electric fans as we speak. Pacet is recommending twin 13" fans - I'm just waiting for a total dimension to see if they'll fit. They also make a discrete hood extractor fan...

Ohhh, I like that bonnet fan. Been worried about the heat that's going to be transferred into the cockpit.

The two 12" fans are just about perfect on the Defender radiator. Here's what I'm putting in:
