I was going to look at it as well. he did raise the price to 18K.

How bad was it ron?

SOUTHPAW26
I may be interested Ron. Whats the condition?

evilfij
He wrote a note to his brother (who put up the ad) he wanted 18,500. Brother misread the 8 for a 5 so listed it at 15,500. I went and looked at it briefly and was suprised when he said 18,500. So he told brother to drop it to 15,500.

Campbell would not like it. Still has an LT77, no AC, good BFG ATs, full cage, says he has a rear seat, front seats look decent but mat over the tunnel is trashed. It is fairly rusty. 4inx3in hole in the P/S of the bulkhead kick panel. Lots of surface rust on the frame. Corrosion in the tub where the cage mounts behind the seat (holes), newish looking fuel tank skid plate, but the rear crossmember has holes in the bottom, corrosion on the front fender (which also has a glossy flare--but supposedly no carfax accidents), corrosion in the battery box, D/S door skin as well. It was hard to tell the extent of the frame rust because of all the dirt.

Only spent five minutes with it. Did not go for a test drive because he said 18,500. It should sell at his asking price of 15,500. Seemed like he really needed the cash.

Me, I think I will buy yeastie back.

Now that I have had a look at this truck, I realized I used to own it. It is a rust bucket. I bought it for $12k from a guy in VT. Spent another $3k, cleaning it up, new starter, and a few other things. Took the external roll cage, rear tire carrier, front bumper, and few other things off, sand blasted them and repainted them. That is probably the only things on the truck that is not rusty. The battery compartment is about to fall off. I have a bunch of pictures of this truck if anyone wants them. There has only been 7k mile put on the truck since I sold it. Incidentially I sold it to another member of the board. Who was very aware of all the rust.

Hey Landers, that would be me I think.

I would take it back for 15k. I traded the truck and some cash to Rip off John at Tide Water Rovers in willington NC. later saw it posted on Ebay for some stupid price with a very poor description. Ran great, but I knew it was the truck from the description. Needs a new brake booster also.

Was well aware of what the truck had when purchased. Was happy to get a cheap Defender. Hope all is well.

SOUTHPAW26
Hey Stephen it can be bought for well under $15k.

Kelly get back to work, wife would remove some very vital parts if I turn up with that old girl again. Her first words were something like "now I won't see you for 6 months while you rebuild that truck"

I did install new U-Joints and nope that would be all, just U joints.

I have to say that the truck ran great. Frame off is needed sometime in the near future.

Stephen it was you, but I did not want to out you as a fellow D90 addict if you didn't want to be...yeah the truck did run great. But the way it looks on eBay, no one would realize the extent of rust/corrosion that the truck has. From 10 feet away that truck looks great, but Stephen is right a frame off will be need in the future. Just an example there is a hole in the tub floor under the rubber mat from corrosion. You would never know that from the pictures. It is worth $15k, but knowing that it is rusty is nice to know before purchase, not after.

SOUTHPAW26
I talked with the buy and the price he offered it to me was a very attractive one. But I still just dont know if I want to get into that nuch work right now.

This is an extremely accurate description. I drove this truck when John had it about 3 years ago and it was rough then. Stephen did you have some bad blood with tidewater?

Not that I know of. We traded rust buckets and he still owes me about 1k in parts to make his rust bucket move under its own power. I gave him a few weeks and started calling and asking for my parts. He never called back after that. I was in Jacksonville NC for a business trip and was planning to swing down but he would not call me back then either.

After carefully looking at the truck I got from him I quickly discovered that there was alot of hidden stuff that someone had glossed over (with a ton of under coating). The frame split in two as a matter of fact. I got what I needed as the body was in great shape. In my opinion it's not right to camo over issues and pass a truck as excellent when its not even close. When I got the 90 from Landers I know exactly 100% what I was getting into. He even tried to talk me out of it (again if I recall). J. Landers is one honorable man, John Miller on the other hand....................

The 90 left and was on ebay a few weeks later with no repairs and listed as excellent (if I recall). In my mind I knew better and was shocked. Don't see how people can do business that way and look at them selves in the mirror.

He seems like a noce enough guy, but I would never do business with him again.

Why was he talking trash?

draaronr
No trash talking I just remembered driving that truck and thinking that it looked rough at the time. It is amazing how these trucks live on and get passed around.

I remember that truck.....someone mentioned above brought it by the office to see if I wanted it. I was told it was a Florida truck. I remember thinking it must have been a hurricane victim with the amount of corrosion on the body capping etc.
