I haven't wired the switches yet as you can see. But I was pretty proud of myself for getting the oil pressure gauge hooked up. Not a big deal, but sometimes the smallest things turn out to be the biggest nightmare on a Defender.
I think the CB fits in there pretty nicely though. I installed the console slightly off-center to the left, making it closer to the driver, and it lines up directly with the fuse box cover below.
I like the way it turned out. I plan on having the ARB switches, air pump, front lights, rear light, and then something else.
Just thought I would like to share the pics . .

Very nice. How did you mount the CB? Do you have some kind of DIN cradle, or is there a U bracket just suspeding it through the hole?

You can sort of see it in the picture, but there are tabs that are on both sides of the CB. Basically, I think it is the metal where the opening is bent back to the sides to create the hole. I drilled a hole on both sides that lined up with the CB mounting holes and used the thumb screws that came with the CB. I bought the CB specifically because it would fill out the opening.

Got it. I had an Iron Goat before I sold it to get the MudUK, so I know where you're coming from. thanks.

This looks great. I have wondered and this goes for even the Land Rover updated dash, do you have to worry about the back of the radio getting wet as it covers a bit of the vents?

Hey Barry,
I know the new Defenders no longer have the vents in the front. They still have the lines of the vent but the bulkhead is one piece with no vent holes. I am considering sealing my driver's side vent completely with silicone or something as I will probably never use it. Good point though regarding the water.

Has anyone else thought of this? I was just looking at ECR http://eastcoastrover.com/159.html
Wonder what this guy will do other than not want to get it wet.

Both the Iron Goat and MudUK dashes have back panels that extend almost the full length up in their mounting space. The iron goat is full, the MUDUK is about 80%, leaving maybe 2-3 vent holes max, which are easily siliconed shut if you desire.

Why would you worry about the vents? Just put the updated seals in them and they won't leak.

what if you have them open?

Yeah I use my vents and don't want to restrict the air flow with the dash. I dig that new style console and vent setup though.
But I hadn't given too much thought to water coming in from the back side. Definitely not installing my mud uk dash in the ST for now...
