I simply don't have the money, time, or love to put into my Rover anymore.
The headgasket was replaced last summer as was the upper tailgate. I have not driven my 94 since October 07 and there is $65.00 in the tank. The alternator failed on me 2 minutes after leaving Exxon. I tried attaching pics however I keep encountering some kind of invalid post error.

I will be happy to fwd pics to any e-mail in box provided in the replies that I may receive in this thread. Please keep in mind that I have no alternator, therefore I am not able to pull my Rover out of my tiny garage to take detailed pics. I'll be happy to answer any questions.

Wow looks to be incredibly rust free after 175k miles. How is the rear floor and the rear seat belt mounts?

No rust that I'm aware of. The places you mentioned appear to be rust free. I will provide pics for those areas.

looks like you have an nrp exhaust. Nice looking truck! Good luck...

As for the headliner, I would poke a small hole in the worst spots and spray 3M adhesive through a straw inside the holes and push/massage it back to place. Cheaper than getting a new one.

Good eyes Jeff. Yes there is a NRP cat back exhaust under there. There are several hidden gems on my truck. I am going to try and crawl under it later to take more pics. I also am going to focus on taking some pics of the passenger side. I need to remove some boxes (actually 20 years worth of cassette tapes and CD's that I put back there when I destroyed the storage box backing my Rover in) from the cargo area prior to taking pics.

I am going to focus on wiping some of the dust off this weekend and try to get some "pose" pics. I am going to focus on getting my alternator in the hands of Allied Starter & Alternator for a rebuild tomorrow (8/15/08).

Looks like a great truck and an absolutely great price. If I hadn't just put so much work into my classic I'd pick this up.

When the alternator decided to take a break, and the headliner decided to get tired...the family decided that time is now to sing Happy Trails...


I took the family camping last weekend in Cunningham Falls and we took my wifes car...odd thing about that was missing my truck, but not missing my truck (did that make sense). We joined another family that owns a DiscoII and we joked about not having running Land Rovers to overload with camping gear for the trip.

Unloading camping gear from my wifes car and looking over at my Rover was a sad feeling, but lifes too short and I can no longer take the thought of wondering how long will it take before I can round up the "extra" funds to make another Rover repair. I love my Rover, but my heart is big enough to except another Rover in my life at some point in the future. Hopefully one day I will be able to park alongside you (not at Towson Towne Center) and talk D-90 love.

I received a few PM's so I thought I would address all questions here. I have a meeting to attend so I will be unavailable for a few hours today.

I am the second owner. I've had my Rover since sometime in the late 90's shortly after 97. I purchased the truck down in Virginia Beach, VA from a car dealership that had no idea on how to move this vehicle off of their lot. The previous owner traded it in for a BMW, that is what I was told by the "salesman"...

I've had a few requests for the ARB, the winch, the uppertailgate, the Bilstein shocks, the TWR rims, the NRP cat back exhaust, the front driver and passenger seats, the rear seat, the rear deck lid, the roofrack hanging on my rear garage exit door, the Yakima roof bars, the remote control D-90 that is in the box on the shelf in my garage, the lower tailgate, the workshop manual, and cd-rom not pictured, even the front and rear floor mats. As much as I would love to accomodate all of those requests I simply can't part the truck out. That would be a real nice profit, probably more than I am asking for the truck. $450 for ARB, $450 for Warn 8000, $100 for 3000's, $900 for upper tailgate that has yet to feel raindrops...purchased summer 07 from Rovers North $500 for NRP exhaust=$2400.

The truck runs great. A local Land Rover tech performed the last service after replacing the head gaskets for me (which I put off for about three years after replacing the radiator and keeping the coolant level topped off), he even offered to buy the truck after installing the upper tailgate. The truck just needs an alternator and I'm sure it will go south from here to FL, or north to Canada without a hiccup...I am that confident in my Rover. There are several small issues that will need attention, nothing major. An oil change is needed. My tech stated that there was sludge buildup that he noticed when replacing the headgaskets, the tires need to be rotated...there is a click sometimes when turning right, don't know what it is other than the shock mount causing that sound. The truck has had three mechanics since I've owned it, Trevor who is often on the board was one, City Imports was before I knew Trevor, and the Tech that works for Land Rover that I use now (before my alternator went up) and of course me! I know much about turning my own wrenches, heck I changed out my heater core!

I am happy to provide info on my 20, however I don't think I can break the truck down unless several weeks pass without anyone purchasing it.

I'm still not sure how to handle requests to take a deposit. I love the idea, however I would rather handle issues like that face-to-face rather than providing my mailing address and waiting for a check/money order etc. Not trying to step on any toes, as I respect everyone on this board (this is the only source I've used to list it for sale), but I think it would be best to discuss the terms of a potential sale in person if possible opposed to waiting on a check and seeing more than two people in my driveway wanting to buy (however I'm not ruling anything out).

I've flopped once before on parting out the ARB, winch, and 3000's. I felt really bad three years ago when I decided to part those items out to restore my truck to the orginal front end, only to have the buyer come by visit, talk shop, travel to Wendys for lunch and then decide to turn him away (He had the BEST HUNTER IN MD IN MY OPINION, seeing his truck only sparked my fire to keep mine). I haven't heard from that individual in years, not sure he is still around in the community, but karma from that is forcing me to note that I am serious about moving my truck now. So, anyone interested keep the pm's coming and I will try to get to each one later today.

Well, I'm glad it went to a good home. I'm just a bit jealous, but then I reflect on the many Rovers "that got away". I've been looking for a D90 to match my Disco, but your RRC would have been a great alternative. It was a spectacular deal, have fun with it. Like Andy said, if you ever decide to sell it, I'm sure you'll find lot's of interested buyers, maybe even me!

I don't want to do any kind of hard 4-wheeling in it. It is just too nice to hurt like that. I'll use it to flat-tow the SIII and use that for dirty work.

That's what happens when I stop reaeding d-90... I coulda brought Humpty Dumpty's alternator and brought this one home to new swap parts over, then parted out Humpty.

Your alternator wouldn't have fit a '94. Ask me how I know.:)

Wrong also. The 93-94 had a 4-groove belt. 88-92 v-belt, 93-94 4-groove belt, 95 serpentine belt.

My learning curve for coil trucks has been accelerated in the last few days.yes... With the rest of it being a v-belt system. They're just like '94 and '95 defenders. Regardless '95 and '94's aren't compatible. I don't know if you can switch pulley's or not.
