Oil Pan Re-seal- Hylomar or Right Stuff?

Seems everyone touts "Right-Stuff" for sealing the oil pan. I have a tube of Hylomar from RN I've used on water pumps. Anyone use Hylomar as a sealant for the oil pan? Also, do I have to worry about losing prime when the oil pan is off?

Hylomar will not work in that application.

Use Right Stuff it will work great in that application. If you leave the filter in place you should not have any prime problems.

Right Stuff it is! I ordered the Hylomar and a cork oil pan gasket about 2 years ago from RN. One would think they would advise using Right Stuff without the gasket.
It's good to know that I will not lose prime with the oil pan dropped. I figure the project taking a couple of hours.
Any advice on pulling the pan any from the block? I'm think on using a plastic puddy knife or something that will not gouge the block or pan...

Thanks. I reviewed this write-up. I see he used a gasket scraper to remove the old sealant. I was just questioning how difficult it will be to break the seal between the block and the oil-pan.

This is what application hylomar is for. I prefer it to the right stuff, but the cork gaskets are $$ and do not last forever.
