How can you get to the brake light switch?

Does it work off the brake pedal. I can't see it from the inside of the footwell, but I'm not quite as flexible as I used to be.

Any other ideas why the brake lights are on all the time. I just rebuilt my clutch master cylinder but didn't see any kind of switch on the engine side of the bulkhead.

It's tucked away behind the bonnet to bulkhead lip, on the backside of the brake housing (from under bonnet). Feel around there for the wires and you'll find it. Mine went last year.

Thanks again Wicks, I found it and I guess while doing the clutch master cylinder I got the switch in a bind and broke the plastic threads.

I recently replaced my brake light switch (pain to get at). My brake lights now work fine when I press the brake pedal. The problem however, is that the car feel as though either the brake pedal or parking brake is still engaged. I disengaged the parking brake and the brake pedal doesn't feel unusual or out of position. Is there an adjustment that should be made to the brake light switch?

yes it should only be screwed in far enough so that the lights go out then locked with the lock washer, if its screwed all the way how it will be partially pressing the brake pedal

Ian: I adjusted the brake light swith and it works fine. It's nice to have brake lights again. However, the brake is still partially engaged when the car is moving. Any other suggestions?

strange one, sounds like a barake piston sticking. Just a daft thought though, the end of the old brake light switch, did it brake off and is it wedging the pedal, if not then it has to be a sticking brake piston or the wrong brake light switch.

As a starter for 10 unscrew the brake light switch and see if the problem goes away
