View Full Version : A New/rebuilt Engine

APaden
I am looking for a new/rebuilt engine. I have a 97 Defender and would be interested in a TDi and/or a 4.0l. I would prefer a warrenty if possible.

I could also use some help on sourcing places that could provide me with an engine. Thank for the help.

if you are doing a 4.0 might as well do a 4.6. I think you can still get them from the dealer in a long block.
to do a tdi conversion add another $15,000 to the price of a 4.6

do you know what 4.6 approx costs?

I have a new 4.6 short block in a crate in my living room, paid like 4200 for it from British Pacific. I have a brand new 4.4 long block for a Range Rover in its original crate if anyone wants to buy that off me.

Anthony, do you just need head gaskets or what?

evilfij has the same look, but I think he did it all himself. Professional decorators are overrated.

whats the diff between a long and short block?

cool-glad some one else has the same decoratorOh man I have 4 blocks all rovers in my living room. 3 of them are in crates which i push to the sides of the living room in these racks I bought at Costco. one is stripped on a stand next to the tv. Can you tell im single? Thats not even including the other rover parts, at least I have a 06' RR Grill screwed to the wall in my living room as decoration and a hint of what I'm into. Chicks walk in and say omg this is a mechanic shop, they are generally not amused, more so, disgusted? :grin

Long blocks have heads, short blocks are just blocks. Kind of a misnomer, it would be better to call it a tall vs. short block.

I think shorts usually have cranks and pistons, but often not oil pans. You're supposed to re-use all that stuff from your original.
