still looking for a d90 but i really need a truck to pull my car with, So the wife said well what will the D90 pull? I said i have no clue but it does have a V8.
So on a 97 auto hard top what is the towing rating.
Any info would be grate. I searched and ended up getting stuff on a trailor hitch with a bike carrier. I guess i just suck at the web.

How much can a D-90 tow?
Is this a trick question? Where's the punchline? My answer is:
NOT MUCH.
You want to tow something, get a full-size diesel pickup.

I remember seeing a guy towing jet skies with his 90 and it wasn't pretty. I mean he was doing fine but the rear was sagging and every time he hit an incline you can see him lose speed.
I would say get a 110 and put a 4.6 and you should be fine.
My 03 Disco can tow my big 90 and a heavy trailer and hit 90-95 mph but as soon as I hit a long incline and high elevation to say goodbye to the 90's and say hello to the 40's.

I agree with Mike, the D90 isn't a good tow vehicle. Besides the power, a short wheelbase can make for a lot of thrills when towing.
It's light weight also makes it easier for the trailer to push around.

I have towed a boat and trailer weighing about 6,000 lbs for 8 hours both ways. It sags, its slow up hills, it guzzled gas and averaged 60 MPH. Don't expect to go anywhere fast, just sit back and try and enjoy the ride. If you're looking for speed follow the advice from above.

I've towed long distances successfully with the 90, both with a car on a tow-dolly, and a very light vehicle (Alfa Romeo) on a full trailer.
Nope, it wont go fast, but I drove very conservatively and the 90 did great. Even with the heavy trailer, it didnt get squirrely or anything.
