Hey all. Putting a trip together for Rausch Creek either the weekend of June 12 or the 26. Let me know which weekend works better for most people.

Either weekends good for me, my new water pump should allow me to do more trails.

I'm in for either weekend...Hell, I won't have class for 3 months :grin

If we draw a large crowd again we definatly should break down into smaller groups. LOL

lol. Hell, convoys through Iraq are smaller than our groups were last time!

So far D-90 is the only place that has responded. So Lets make it the weekend of the 12. Actually i'm game for making it a three day trip like last time. So i'm going to head up there Friday. And this time I promise to wheel with the defender group.

Put me down as "possible" for the 12th.

Hopefully the beast will be ready then.

April 16th, 2004, 11:42 AM
Hey Tyler, is the rest of the pit crew going to come up? I promise not to break my water pump again. Oh and if you are going to wheel with the Defender group you have to promise t be nicer to the trees.

flippedrover
April 16th, 2004, 11:44 AM
not sure if the rest of the pit crew is comming yet. I promise not to bounce off trees this time.

How about one day at RC and one day at Paragon?

Mike Hippert
April 19th, 2004, 11:09 AM
Trevor, YES! Definitely!:grin Like last time If we get big we will split off into groups according to abilities.

Ken, we could but do you think Paragon is going to be real busy that time of year or does everyone clear out when it gets warm? There are 3 events on Sat and one on Sun at Paragon, and there is nothing at RC currently. I would like to go to Paragon also but I don't want to wait to use trails.

dmarchand
April 19th, 2004, 11:16 AM
Yeah, the congestion on the trails on Sunday at PN were a pain in the butt. We spent more time waiting for stock trucks to move than anything else.

Can I go too ?
I promise to stay with the easy trail group and put a diaper on Sam so he dosen't pee on anyone's tent.

HMMMM I don't know, I think he peed on my tent and then my ROVER!

So far I have gotten one or two responses from people on Disco Web. I haven't been able to check it in a few days though. Seems my computer doesn't like the site at the moment. I'm going to call and get us on the calander tomorrow. Trevor I'd hope you'd come and Even after watching that SII tackle the trails of course you can come but please put a diaper on Sam. I mostly just want to see that.

mudrover
April 20th, 2004, 02:21 PM
Hmmm...How about doing Paragon on Friday and hitting RC Sat/Sun? Oh and if Sam has to wear a diaper we had better getting Jorge's buddy with the video camera there to shoot footage. Speaking of that Jorge, Randy do you guys know whats going on with the video?

I got a copy but we are waiting for the one without the edited music. The copy I got unfortunately had non of the talking Example: (OOOHHH SSSHITTT, OHHH Thats going to leave a mark, "Don't worry you are no where near 42degree's, keep going")... instead, it had all wedding music that made me crazy. Very bad audio but very good video some good shots of everyone wheelin' oh, and Mike spottin'.

Now your picking fights..;)

I do have video of Jorge coming up the rock and making the tight turn, scraping his bumper. CVC is in the background say: "it's okay, just a scratch! Keep going!". At which point, Jorge rode the rock and then came back down on it.

I don't have a problem with Paragon Friday and Rausch Sat/Sun. So far I have as going me,Mike,Pete,Ken,Trevor,Evan as deffinates. I have CVC and David as maybies. I also heard maybe two others from Discoweb but it seems to be down. I know one of the people from Dweb is a stock DII. The plan is to hit Paragon Friday then head down to Rausch Friday night. Sat/Sun run around Rausch. Camping at Echo Valley again.

Tyler, put me down as a maybe.. I have canceled a few other trips that I was going to go on so that the wife might let me out for this one again. I'm hopeful but, you never know..

Evan, do you need me to pack some diapers? I have plenty.. They might not fit you but, they may fit the dog. My easy-up will never be the same..

No, a better way to put it is he drives like he's in the Dukes of Hazard... :demented

I've never seen someone get air as I've seen Jimmy do in the DII.

I would be there for Sat. and Sun., if my truck is completed or just running by then :thumbs

CVC, the idea of him spitting chiclets just made my day. Too bad the tech market is still sucking it, I remember those dot com days when you could quit your current gig and have another in five minutes. But I digress, I just told him I have a religious retreat that weekend HA! That'll shut him up. I hope it does not upset the really big bossman upstairs. But then again I have had a few religious experiences when wheelin. Some say the only way to get to heaven is in your D-90! I guess I'll find out.

Ok, In this pic I'm at 25* and if I remember this is where Trevor was getting tippy, I'm standing by he wasn't at 45* maybe 30*, 35* max. Or was he that close and I was :demented or something.

Edit: Oh and this isn't a shameless way of getting Randy's butt posted up, since there has been some talk of butts lately.

I don't know if it makes much of a difference to anyone, but Red Ridge Lake Campground bathrooms have solid floors. Of course, the decor isn't as fancy as the great avocado green and shag carpet in the Echo Valley trailer. That's tough to beat. Mapquest says it's about 30 miles north of Rausch Creek and 13 miles from Paragon. Evan, they may even have electrical outlets for your microwave :)

Just a thought...

Mike Hippert
April 29th, 2004, 12:17 AM
I second Red Ridge! They have locals who have X-mas lights up year round and the roads to get to it are fun to drive!

loykd
April 29th, 2004, 02:22 PM
i googled it last nite with no luck. it's pretty good though, with fixed, block buildings. You might find some pics of the place if CVC has photos posted from Labor Day Paragon trip of last year.

Old Rover
April 29th, 2004, 04:45 PM
The bathroom in that trailer was a bit questionable and it would be nice to plug the microwave into some clean power . Tyler..Sam still had some love for you

Eric N
April 29th, 2004, 11:43 PM
Red Ridge is fine with me.. Do we want to try and get a group camp spot? Wonder if my skid marks are still on that main road leading to it from last time I was there. Wheel all day at Paragon and get the most pucker factor on the way back to camp...

Does any one know if any stockers are coming again?

Mike Hippert
April 29th, 2004, 11:51 PM
Eric I'm willing to bet there will be at least 2 other stockers to ride with. A group spot is a good idea.

Eric N
April 30th, 2004, 01:02 PM
I was wondering about the stockers as I have a friend that may tag along with me in his stock Jeep GC (if no one minds) which he hasn't really used. I figured that if there were other stockers coming then I would tell him to come along and I would tool around with them and help get them unstuck if needed. If there isn't then I'll tell him to stay home and I'll just run the blue trails or whatever.

Do we need to call Red Ridge and have them reserve space for us or has someone already done that... If not how many camping spots do you think that we need? I don't mind calling them if someone can give me the number of sites/space needed.

I thought I saw a KOA before EchoValley that wasn't 30 miles away!

Yep, KOA at Pine Grove. Exit 100 on I 81.
Rausch is Exit 104 or 107.

Stockers are fine. if Sam's got some love for me I'm sleeping on top of the truck!. Either place is fine with me. A co-worker and her boyfriend are comming too. They don't have a truck to wheel so I am looking for anyone with a spare seat for one of them.

Mike Hippert
May 3rd, 2004, 11:07 AM
I always have a spare seat:naughty, but they have to be prepared to be covered in mud if there is any within 100 miles of me. Tops down doors are off, and the interior looks the same as my avatar.:zpimp

I don't think they'll mind the mud. I'm planning on going topless this time. Hoping my coworker will join in too :naughty Do we want to stay at red ridge both nights? Does noon work for Pargon for everyone wheeling friday?

Eric N
May 4th, 2004, 01:05 AM
I was wondering if we should just stay at the KOA campground that Trevor posted since it looks closer to Rausch then Red Ridge. 30 miles could be a long drive if someone wounds their truck. just my 2 pennies.

chrisvonc

So lets recap..

Has this switched to Paragon for the weekend? If so we should probally create a new thread with all the current details, I'll link to it in here, and then close this thread so current planning can continue fresh there.

Also, for those not aware, Paragon is under new management. Its still the same people running it, just the previous owner sold the off-roading portion of the business off to the parks manager. Some new regulations are in effect but nothing really has changed other than at the moment, everyone needs to again fill out the entry forum as the old membership cards are not valid any longer. Also one big change is that one person from a group is required to go through their trail certification class. No big deal as its only about a 15 minute class to ensure that one person from each group is aware of the parks guidelines and safety procedures. You only need to take this class once and you are certified for 1 year. I already have done it but if people are thinking of breaking the gang into more managable groups, at least one person from each of the sub-groups will need to do the class. The class is free and as I said, only takes about 15 minutes and they give one about once an hour. If you think you will want to go through the class, I advise you show up 45 minutes early to get through it.

Eric N
May 4th, 2004, 11:58 PM
Chris, It's my understanding that only Friday will be at Paragon. Saturday and Sunday will be at Rausch Creek. That's the reason for staying at the KOA camp ground instead of Red Ridge.

Tyler, I'm going to get there sometime Friday afternoon and just set up camp. I'm only wheeling Saturday and I'm probably going to have one other truck with me...

flippedrover
May 5th, 2004, 12:03 AM
Eric is right. Its Paragon on Friday and Rausch Creek Sat and Sun. Sorry for any confusion.

Eric N
May 6th, 2004, 12:00 PM
Tyler, I think that Steve from Rovertym and maybe Drew want to come too. He had mentioned it to me yesterday.

Also, if there are some stockers coming I'll run with them on Saturday like I did last time and try to help keep them out of trouble.. My friend has a stock Jeep GC and he is just starting out so I'll be running the easy stuff with him anyway. Which will mean less traffic on the harder trails for you guys.
