Hey folks I bought a nice 97 Vitesse Range Rover for my sweetheart that had a *blown* motor. Fourteen bolts away from replacing it I discovered it just had a seized oil pump. a used front cover and I was back in action!

Since that time, a year ago, I've come to the conclusion that the 4.6 engine I bought is now supplemental to my needs and would like to pass it on. I bought it used with 40,XXX miles on it. motor was complete with all the wires just clipped and just pulled out.

Price is at $2500, which is what I paid for it.

If you need help figuring out how to stuff it in your 94-95 I've done it. A 97 obviously would be much easier.

What year is the 4.6, and what is it out of? GEMS or Bosch? ECU included- in other words turn key?
Pics??

year 97, gems, turn key

The engine litteraly had all the wires cut and than hoisted out of the the truck. so as it sits, it does not have an alternator, but just about everything else is one it. including all the little wires with pig tail attached to it.

I'll try to post a picture later today

I bought this engine for my 1997 D90, but I sold the truck today, so I need to sell the engine.

So I will take $2500 for it, which is what I paid. Of course the sad part is I am eating the shipping, but that would be good news for anyone local to me.

I'm interested in the engine for my 97 SW. Can you elaborate as to it's condition and/or send along any photos?

My truck runs like a top, has lots of power and is leak-free, but with 186-odd K, I recognize that to date I've probably been lucky. (Plus I bought it from J-Tisdale last year, so you know that it was cared for, and I then threw a ton of cash at it, so far sticking.)

Sorry for the hijack...Chris a little birdy told me you were doing a total tear down on that truck?

Thanks for the response! I'll send along a PM with my contact info for the engine.

For J-Tis: Pretty correct, I guess! Maybe not a total teardown, but pretty close.

So as to not hijack an unrelated thread I didn't start, I'll start another with an update for you. I meant to share with you and the rest of the bunch some photos and info they might find interesting, but with my move from FL to VA and starting the new squadron assignment, I haven't gotten around to taking any or writing it up. (Reminds me that I also need to send finished photos to the painter!)

Well apparently I am asking too much for this engine. I posted it for sale on a bunch of other forums and got schooled forum style on why I am asking too much. I was not trying to do that. I just was passing along what I paid and eating the freight. But with this new info in mind I guess I will take less, so please feel free to make an offer. But please not too low, be reasonable, I will just keep it if it gets too low.

Can a 4.6 pass emissions in a 97 or will the OB2 tell the DMV it's the wrong engine? I read something a wile back that ECR was working on that but I never read the conclusion on the 97 conversion. I will be moving back to CA and they are a PITA with inspection.
