View Full Version : 90 Project feeler

Debating which way to go with my project. I'd be willing to sell for exactly what I have in it. Basically it is a complete RHD 90 SW minus the following:

engine
transmission
radiator
*radiator support/slam panel
fan shroud
exhaust
*seats
*steering intermediate shaft (between upper column and box)
*steering wheel
*headlight switch
*ignition switch
*wiper switch
*turn signal switch

It is currently broken down to a rolling chassis with the tub resting in place. Parts are divided between DC and New Jersey.

Chassis condition: Typical rust areas are 90% solid. I have been over every inch of it with a hammer and there were two small soft spots in the underside just in front of the rear axle. Rear cross has been replaced and engine mounts removed.

Bulkhead is solid with perfect footwells and doorposts. Upper corners repaired with new panels but there are 2" long gaps on the top edge where the repair panels did not cover.

Right side (UK driver) door is a replacement and solid. Left side needs help but i have a good shell that can be used to repair it. Rear door is solid. Seatbox is good with surface rust in the battery box.

Rear bed has a 2" x 1" hole in the ledge in front of the bulkhead where the DS seatbelt bracket came off. Horizontal cappings should be replaced or repaired if you have that ability.

I have the missing pieces marked * and can provide them if necessary.

$3500 US. No title just the parts. I've tried to describe all the bad points as best as I can. Let me know what you want to see. This is an easy rebuild I am just looking at other ways to achieve my ends.

Some pics can be found here. more can be provided on request.

Thanks

IF someone is interested in your truck, I will have a complete engine with harness, rad, exhaust, etc. available shortly to complete the package. In NJ as well

Cool, thanks Randy. What type of engine?

FYI this had a 300tdi/R380 installed before I got it. AFAIK was born as a 2.5TD

I'm worried about Ren. He's not acting very Ren like.... I think he lost his Ching.

his bidding finger is on his mouse and his screen is pointed east
but it's still a circling vulture scenario

I have a 3.9 from a 95 d-90 that I will be removing to install a 300tdi soon so it will be up for grabs. So the entire setup is available with engine mounts, etc.. It runs like a champ.

I'd be interested in the back half of the frame, the tub, and rear axle if anyone wants to part it out with me.

I don't know why I lust after roll-up doors so much . . .

yup, that is the one.

tony, with the shell I got from you you could have two very nice doors.

the drivers side has been cahgned already and is in in VGC. passenger side needs your shell to be happy.

jon, pm'ed you back

jon, pm'ed you backAs you saw yesterday, I have bigger issues right now. I do wish I could justify this as a project, though, its a hell of a deal.

I also have the steering parts to convert that to LHD. That looks like a good starting point for a custom truck.

Indeed, I was going to build this into a tdi trail rig. have other plans now.

I'm considering parting this out, let me know if you are looking for anything.

That would be a mighty small trailer.

Very perceptive. I would be making it into something similar to an adventure trailer. Tent on top, storage, drawers, etc. I didn't plan on hauling lumber or cars. Maybe Rover parts though....
