My new Defender arrived this week - well actually new RC Defender.
After seeing some of these on the net the kid in me wanted one.
The Chassis is a shaft driven 4wd by Tamiya.
I have not taken it outdoors yet..

Sweet! More photos please! Is this something readily available, and if so where?

Where did you get that? I've seen some guys take the Tamiya hi-lift body and put a defender body on it... which is what I was going to do but I hate that it's a leaf sprung chassis. That one appears to be at least IFS which is much less noticeable than the damn F350 leaves.
Please let us know where you found it!

That is very cool - but you need to black out the BF Goodrich letters on the tires! I like the idea of running an antenna through the roof cap between the driver/passenger. Maybe I should do that with my CB Firestik antenna - I wouldn't have to have 18' of coaxial cable running from the antenna to the radio. (just kidding).

...but you need to black out the BF Goodrich letters on the tires! ...I agree - there's a few things I need to alter.
For those that wanted to know:
I decided not to go with a rock-climbing chassis and for one that had a better scale.
The chassis is a Tamiya 58324 RC Volkswagen Race-Touareg - 1/10 scale.
Since I am new to the RC thing I had a guy in Hong Kong put this together for me.
I sent him a picture of my D-90 and he made suggestions.
The turn around build time was about 10days and shipping took about two weeks.
Cost - like most Defender related items was probably too much.
If your interested send me an e-mail or PM and I'll give you more info..
I'll take more pictures too - any particular area?

I e-mailed him this morning and he said to pass his name/e-mail address on to anyone who would be interested.
I think a group buy might save some monies - But if you want the builders contact info let me know.

Looks like the body is from a Defender toy in China. Paul is this your guy perhaps?
