Open which means if one wheel can spin you don't go anywhere. That being said, it is the safest way to travel IMHO until you are really in it bad.

I say the ratio of an axle traveling in a perpendicular direction to the tread of the tire has a ratio of one to infinity, because the next object you may encounter may be the dark blue infinity that you are hurtling towards.

I am assuming that you are talking about locking the transfercase... not the diffs.

40% to the front
60% to the rear

locked:

50/50
