I had posted these pics up on dweb in a random thread. Bought this 90 about a month and a half after I got here. Shopped around a lot until I found one that was not rotted to oblivion. Picked it up from a guy who worked at a BMW dealer that bought it off a co-worker. The PPO had done a nice amount of work bringing it back to original condition. The rear tub has zero rust body panels are all straight. Frame is solid... not a new frame, but no rust. Only rust is a spot at the very top of the bulkhead on each side. So I wasn't really concerned with that as it's just surface rust but does need to be dealt with.

What I've got planned for it.

Disco 200tdi conversion.
An aux fuel tank.
A newer style roof and paint job and new front fender tops that aren't dented or straightening the tops of the fenders so they aren't dented.
7.50 XZLs
Heated front seats and fold down jump seats out of a new 90.
Maybe a stereo( for the PPO, original meant removing all of the stereo and speakers!!!)

Other than that I want to keep it pretty original. It's in glorious condition for a 1984 with only 79k miles when I bought it. A pleasure to drive to work everyday. Possibly going to ship it back to the US Sept of this year to attend MAR or something and then let my parent's use it till I'm back in the US and get an 85 100 variety and do similar to before I leave.

Big yellow double barn looking doors in the back of the pic. It's not too tough to pull it in and out. I parked the Disco in the garage once... once! With only an inch or so front and back it was not much fun. Plus the Disco door is bigger and the LHD made it a pain to get out on that side. As soon as I'm on a regular-ish work schedule I will actually be able to accomplish things. Currently re-adjusting my sleep schedule about every 24 hours so it's either sleeping, eating, or working to ensure I'm rested properly and not much time to actually do anything. I referred to my next one I get as a 100, I meant 110. They are all over the place, but the 110s are way more difficult to find in acceptable condition. I think the majority of them led very very very difficult lives and were always out in the open.

Are you at Mildenhall/Lakenheath or some such? Its neat that you've got the early "trim style" roll-up doors with the pull-up handles instead of the pushbuttons.

Mildenhall. I dig the doors, too. I think the look of the full door with a soft top is pretty sweet. I don't think I'll go that route. I keep toying with the idea of getting side panels with the big windows in them but I don't know.

When I was at Mildenhall I found my 110 after lots of looking. just keep looking. I found one in OK shape bought 4 others plus disco with 300tdi, bought lot more parts to include new galv chassis. Then started the rebuild 1 year before I had to come back to the US. I still have some contacts or get with Jetmec on this forum he just came back to New Mexico in Sept.

yeah. just like the regular locks. I suppose to stop thieves from taking the 4 cylinder engine.

Thanks Doug. Much more fun to drive and love the turbo sound. First diesel engine I've owned and used. Next on the list is new style roof with alpine windows and sunroof and windows for the site panels. Then on to the interior which will just be soundproofing and newer seats.

As for green laning still haven't done any. The Disco needs new brakes and transmission so I'm probably going to Ashcroft for that then I'll be hitting the lanes.

Just installed 2003 black leather with white stitching front seats. Matching rears will go in later once I get CSW sides and the new style roof to make my life easier. These seats are way more comfortable and the padding is substantially better than the original padding from 1984. Also have a matching cubby box to go in once I figure out the best way for it to be mounted in place.

Finally was able to get CSW sides with all the interior bits. Put them on a few weeks ago. Just received lots of goodies for the truck. Going to put the 255/85 KM2s onto these wheels. Have the Xtreme 4x4 bumper (standard type, not tubular) in a box waiting to go on as well. Then it'll need some paint. I'm leaning more towards hand/roller painting marine blue onto the different colored parts. I can't bring myself to pay $3k+ for a real paint job that will inevitably get scratched. Will hopefully get all the Disco goodies onto it in the next few weeks.

Interior is a bit messy. The full headliner and side panel interior trim has cut the noise down substantially over the blank van sides.

Thanks. They're great. Got an amazing deal on them from a guy who replaced his out of a 2003, 450 quid for the complete set with cubby box. Have to be patient for the good deals. CSW top and sides with headliner and interior trim panels 150. Bought 10 of those wheels for 130 quid a piece(though five are already going to another guy's build). I was able to replace my shitty passenger side door with one off my civ exMoD 110 after I got two wolf type excellent condition two piece doors with ally tops for another 150 quid. Doubtful that I'll get any type of deal on drive shafts after I put the lift on and immediately need them. :'(

The straps on the rears work great at holding the seat, but not the support bars. They just sway and squeak like mad while driving, hence the bungies. Have any suggestions on better ways to solve that problem?

Not really an update, more general chit chat related to rebuild. I got another extension by 7 months so I'll be able to likely get this and the 110 pickup to a decent point before I leave. It's incredibly difficult to do anything with the current political situation to the south. I've managed to accumulate a mass of parts and things, but not actually able to do any work. I ended up buying some marine blue paint and will be returning the 90 to matching colors. Also bought some pastel green for the pickup.

Pretty much done with the work on this bad johnny. Power steering will be retro fitted within the next two weeks and that will be the last upgrade aside from a possible roll bar at some point. Hand painted parts match well enough for my liking. I've put roughly 27000 miles on this thing over 3 years (sat for about 1 year of that for deployments) and it's been a superb daily driver that has had very few faults and has sailed through the MoT each year. Thanks to Julian for selling me the bonnet that was a matching color. Just need to touch up the hinges. As you can see, the farther away you are, the better it looks, but underneath it's very solid and mechanically sound.
