Brake caliper reseal kits

One of the little brake piston metal seal retainers has popped off and is floating on the piston on my front drivers side, will I die? It is not leaking but I was wondering if i should replace the seal and retainer on that piston.

If you can't get the retainer back on, I'd replace it. If the seal goes too, you're in trouble.
