I am running the wiring for my seat heat and have been intimidated by the task.

I just have one seat to wire up and was wondering how others have done this. I have a read and black wire for power. I am assuming that my black is the ground, and the red needs to go to a fuse. Is there a fuse that is safe to use? Also, is there a good ground at the fuse box? I'm not experienced with this at all so I'm trying to read the diagram that came with the wire harness and it seems to make sense but I don't want to cause a mess.

The instructions say I need 12 volt DC and a switched terminal capable of driviing 10 A continuous current.

Thanks for the help,
Alex

Its much easier to run the seat heaters straight from the battery compartment, since its so close to the seats and minimizes wiring runs. My seat heaters came with an inline fuse and a self-contained harness. That being the case, you still need a source of switched power (i.e. only on when the ignition is on). To accomplish this and other things, I installed a supplemental fuse box (from Painless wiring) in the seat box so that I only had to run one wire switched 12v lead from the main fuse box.

I have what feels like miles of wire so I'm not worried about running the wire to the fuse panel. The idea of adding a fuse box near the battery makes sense but isn't really something I'm comfortable doing.

Is there an extra fuse that will meet the power requirements I need on the panel already?
