I have a swingaway spare wheel carrier that is designed for a D90 with drop down tailgate, that I wish to modify fit to a hardtop and open with the rear door. The NAS spec have a linkage that joins from just behind the spare wheel to the tailgate and allows the carrier to hinge with a side opening tailgate. Could someone please take a couple of photos of the linkeage please - it goes from a plate on the tailgate via two pivot points on a short length of tube to the main carrier allowing for the difference in opening arc. This is rather difficult to explain so here a couple of pictures;
This is what I have bought as a used item...........

and would like to modify to similar to this (the part Id like photos of is circled in yellow)

Thank you!

Do you just want photos or would you like measurements as well?

Just photos please, to get an idea of how it works, as it won't be a cabon copy - we dont have them like that over here. I plan to make the pivot points from the ends of a panhard rod........
Thanks!

HI Paul just saw this while waiting to go home:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LAND-ROVER-90-110-SWINGAWAY-SPARE-WHEEL-CARRIER_W0QQitemZ180323509885
very similar to mine except the high lift brackets

That is similar to the NAS carrier, except the plate with the bolts seems different somehow ( I never really look back there, as it is hidden by the tyre, but it still seems different?)
The articulating piece at the left end on the carrier looks very similar to NAS spec.

Don,
Thanks the photos will be a great help
Chaps!
I already have a spare wheel carrier (I got it for nothing - its like the photo in the first post) but its for a drop down tailgate and I want it to open with, and be connected to, the rear door via the articulating piece that I will fabricate from a panhard rod.........
Regards

I have one torn apart in my garage, if pics of it apart would help I can snap a few. It might take me a day or two since it is in a bucket of solvent to remove the grime.

Here you go.

I took pictures of the carrier on my D90 so you can see how the parts connect and work together, as well as some detailed shots of one that is not installed.
Please excuse the foot (unless you are looking to pay big bucks for a foot model).
